People We Meet On Vacation

Perfect beach read
“I don't think I knew I was lonely until I met you.”Emily HenryPeople We Meet on Vacation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️first of all, i want what they have. best friends to lovers??When Poppy and Alex meet the first year at college the only thing, they have in common is the area they grew up in. Alex is reserved and quiet, while Poppy is outgoing and full of spunk. After they graduate from college, they go their separate ways but develop a long-distance friendship and continue their yearly adventures. The Summer Trip becomes an annual thing for Poppy and Alex. Poppy and Alex haven’t spoken in 2 years. Just like Harry and Sally, Poppy and Alex always find their way back to each other.Their friendship was one of the most important relationships in their lives and they didn't want to cross any lines that may ruin their friendship.I absolutely loved this book. It had me laughing, crying, heart racing and hoping that these two would have a perfect ending. One thing that stuck out to me is how little physical descriptors there are of Poppy and Alex. Probably the quickest Novel I have ever read. I stayed up until 3am devouring this book.

Amazing
The media could not be loaded. The only miniscule disappointment I have is the poor packaging. Amazon really needs to upgrade it's packaging system like you can see the small crooked edges. As a reader my mind keeps on going to that small thing other than that everything's fantastic.

5/5 stars.
“You asked me who I was, and—it was like the answer came out of nowhere. Sometimes it feels like I didn’t even exist before that. Like you invented me.”where do i even begin with this book?first of all, i want what they have. best friends to lovers?? the trope was done immaculately and all those years of pining and build up was totally worth it to see how they ended up together. when i read books like these, where the MCs haven't been in contact for a few years after something goes horribly wrong, i'm usually disappointed to find out the reason things went south, but not with this book.emily henry writes such complexity into her characters that i can't help sympathize will them and root for them. i read this book in a day and i desperately wish i hadn't done that because now i just? have to live without alexpoppy content?? what a cruel and cold world we live in.this book put me in somewhat of a reading slump because it was just that good and if you like the best friends to lovers trope you'll definitely love this book too!

Excellent book
Omg the best book I've read in 2023 and the story is well written not too dragged out or anything and trust me, this will one of your best read romance books. Everything inside the book was good but when I got the product delivered, I saw some gooey like substance on the cover of the book ie., it was kinda dirty. I had to wipe it off first.. So yea, I'm giving 5 stars for the book tbh, but gave a four because if the above mentioned things.. hope u really enjoy the book!!

Book quality is extremely bad.
Haven’t read the book yet, but the condition in which the book arrived was very poor. Some of the pages had gotten wet from the top, the book itself is dirty, the cover page as well as the other pages have some smear marks and crumples on them. Very disappointed.

not worth the hype!
No offense to all those who read and loved this book, but honestly, what is happening here? I mean, I am all good for the ‘friends to lovers’ trope, but why all the unnecessary flashback story, and it honestly didn’t even change a thing to me when I skipped through all the vacation flashbacks. Poppy was such a naïve character, and the only quality of Alex that attracted me was that he reads. This was my first Emily Henry book. I’ve heard so many people talk about her books and writing style, so I guess I picked this up with way too high expectations. That’s it, I’m disappointed and borderline annoyed after I finished reading this one and the biggest flop of all was the “gripping plot twist” that was supposed to hold on to the entire narration.

What are bff to lovers if not a little messy
In Emily Henry’s "People We Meet on Vacation," opposites collide in a decade-long saga of friendship, love, and second chances. Poppy and Alex, despite their wildly different personalities—she’s the adventurous New Yorker, he’s the reserved hometown guy—forge a deep bond through annual summer vacations. The story unfolds through dual timelines, alternating between their carefree adventures and the aftermath of a falling out that fractures their friendship. Poppy, with her irrepressible wanderlust and infectious spontaneity, contrasts sharply with Alex’s quiet, bookish demeanor. Yet their banter and deep understanding of each other’s quirks make them inseparable—until a pivotal moment changes everything.Henry deftly navigates the friends-to-lovers trope, infusing humor and heart into their journey. Poppy’s quest to revive their tradition becomes a voyage of self-discovery as she confronts her own stagnation and yearning for happiness with Alex. Her character is vibrant and relatable, driving the narrative with wit and charm.Alex, seen through Poppy’s eyes, is portrayed as lovable yet mysterious—a man of routines and hidden depths. While the single point of view intensifies the story’s tension, glimpses into Alex’s perspective during critical moments could have enriched their evolving relationship. The novel thrives on Henry’s sharp dialogue and evocative settings. The chemistry between Poppy and Alex crackles with energy, their witty exchanges and unspoken longing drawing me into their emotional rollercoaster. While the conclusion offers closure and hope, I craved more insight into Alex’s thoughts, particularly in the airport scene near the end. Nonetheless, "People We Meet on Vacation" is a delightful romantic comedy that celebrates the power of friendship, the magic of summer adventures and loving someone "all the way."

Excellent writing, but the conclusion a little cliche
Extremely well written, fully fleshed out deep characters, exciting suspenseful plotting. In the end it felt a bit cliche, though. The main characters' lack of self-confidence was also a bit eye roll inducing.

When you vacation with your best friend
I love Emily Henry books. I save her books for the beach so that I can escape from the real world and hectic pace of Atlanta. I love Poppy., who is a younger version of me - a short misfit who longed to get out of her small town to move to New York. She meets Alex in a bar over a decade ago and they couldn’t be more opposite than Poppy. Alex is nothing like the love of my life but I love Emily’s pairing of the two as friends. Thank you for creating a full character in Alex, a young man who took care of his family when his mom died. Thank you for the entire celebrating the marriage of his brother in David in California. Thank you for supportive dads who love their kids.Lastly, we were vacationing with wonderful friends from OHIO, so Linfield felt like Sandusky (where they are from), another wonderful memory I will have of Poppy & Alex.As always Emily has a few wonderful quotes. And this quote comes from her comments at the end about her book that she wrote as a homage to When Harry Met Sally. “Really it’s less about the places we go, than the people we meet along the way. Most of all, it’s about the ones who stay, who become home.”

emily henry is a good writer, ill admit but i did not buy into poppy/alex
this is my first emily henry book. i can say it is a great summer book! i love the way she describes each location they visit and it makes u feel like ur on vacation. i also enjoy what she says about traveling, meeting new people, and experiencing life.however, the couple was just so mid for me. i dont like the super eccentric girl meet shy awkward guy, it felt a little lackluster in chemistry. i appreciate getting their backstory and seeing their foundation of friendship so it doesnt fully fall into that trope.also, it took them like 70% to finally get together and after that have a third act breakup which was just like ? for that, im giving this book 3 stars bc i did enjoy her writing style and i look forward to reading her other works. i just did not buy into this couple
