Helps me wake up in the morning!
I love this little alarm clock! For years I've been using my phone as an alarm, but recently I've been having a very difficult time getting myself out of bed in the morning due to a medication I am on. I was desperate for something that would make getting out of bed in the pitch dark in time for work a little easier, so when I found this I figured I'd give it a shot. So far I've found that the light really does help me get up much easier! I'm less groggy and don't hit snooze as much.I also love that this is easy to use and totally customizable. It has a bunch of settings to play around with- there's a great volume range so you can pick exactly how loud you want your alarm to be, there's a variety of sounds to choose from (I find some of them to be kind of odd choices, but I like the chirping birds sound) including waking up to the radio. You can even change the brightness of the time display or turn it off altogether, which I like to do at night because I like my room to be completey dark. I also love how small this clock is- it doesn't take up too much room on my nightstand and just looks really nice and sleek. The buttons are also very easy to press- I love that they're touch activated so that you don't have to press down hard on an actual button. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to make getting up in the morning easier!

Works great but flaws in design.
I purchased this light after my previous light alarm clock made from another company had the power cord detach from the device one night when moving it. While this light alarm functioned as described there were just too many small drawbacks to it's design that made me return it after a week use, however it did arrive and function as advertised so that's why I gave it 3 stars. I also would not pay the full $99 price for it.I happened to wake up prior to it starting two times so I got to watch how it illuminates and gets brighter. Essentially it turns on one ring of lights and then a few minutes later it's like another set of lights goes on inside the device and repeats until it's fully illuminated and all lights inside are turned on. There is a faint clicking that you can hear when each set turns on but you really had to listen in a dead quite room to it to hear that and it was essentially just the lights turning on. In my opinion it would function better with a dimmer light in it that can gradually increase in brightness as time goes on as this would simulate the sunrise better. Admittedly this is what my last light alarm clock did so maybe it's just that I'm used to it.Also there is no setting the time that the light starts to wake you, it's set to 30 minutes before the alarm goes off. So if your like me and want a more gradual sunrise to wake you up, you can't set it to be slower so it's less harsh. You also can't set it faster to make it so that you have the alarm part go off sooner. This also makes it so once you learn when the light normally wakes you you can't set it so the light wakes you at the time you want to wake up without moving the alarm back potentially making you late in case for whatever reason you don't wake up to the light. The color lights works but you can't set a default color which is what I'd like to be able to do. First to get to the color light you have to select the Sunrise button in the middle twice in which it defaults to green. Then you can hit the plus and minus to change the colors. Personally I'd like it if I could set a default color, that way you don't have to flip through the other colors to get to it ruining any mood you might be trying to set with the color lights. With the buttons being white and in the middle of the light it makes it very hard to find the buttons to turn it off because you are looking directly into the light. It's not so bad once you are awake and looking at the buttons but especially in the morning after first waking up I had a hard time with it. They are also not raised away from the rest of the clock, so unless it does something it's hard to tell if you pressed the buttons as there is no tactile difference that you can feel. The brightness of the time can only be changed between three settings. Non-existing (as in can't see the time at all), half bright, and full on bright. I found full bright hard to sleep to but half bright was okay, although made it hard to see during the day. Having it fully off made no sense to me and I'm not sure why they included that option. The speaker on the clock is horrible and makes all the nature sounds sound very manufactured and not real. I've had many alarm clocks that make nature sounds but this is by far the worst I've had especially for this price. The nature sounds reminded me of the first computers that could make sound or like old 8-bit video game sounds.Again the whole thing works as it's supposed to but there are definitely some design flaws that need to be looked at. Hopefully this helped you in your decision.

Sunrise? No. Sun-slap-in-the-face? Yes.
I wouldn't recommend this alarm clock but I wouldn't actively discourage it either. In theory, the sunrise and sunset features are nice and the sounds are actually not too jarring in the morning. My primary complaint is that the lights are just way too bright. There is a dimming feature for the sunrise/set but it doesn't actually dim the light very much; the light really just goes from bright to super bright. When the light first turns on in the sunrise setting it is more like someone flicked on your bedroom light than a gentle sunrise. If you're a heavy sleeper and looking for a light plus sound alarm for that extra wake up booster this alarm would probably be great. If you're looking for a gentle wake up this is not the alarm for you. Also, the colored light feature is horrible. There is no way to dim this light so it is always full blast and it comes on automatically when turning off the white light. So, if you actually wake/wind down to the sunrise/sunset light you're slapped awake again by a neon color light.Update: I've been using this clock for a few months and I just hate it. I can't return it (or I would) so I keep trying to get used to it. I would actively discourage people from buying it. It's the light equivalent to that terrible horn alarm sound. There is nothing soothing or gentle about this.

Good starter sunrise clock
I did not want to spend much money on a sunrise clock until I determined how much I like them and if one would work for me. This is a great starter clock (and possibly final clock, depending on your preferences). It was pretty easy to set up, but I did need the directions. The pros: The light comes on like a floodlight (not gradually, as it says in the description), so if light wakes you up, this should work for you. The choices for alarm sounds are very nice. I don't think it had six nature sounds, but two of the sounds were classical/baroque (?) music, one with nature sounds playing with the music. You can dim or turn off the time display. The cons: You can't turn it off from one day to the next. So, if you don't want to get up at the same time every day of the week, you'll have to unplug the clock (and remove the batteries) and then reset it when you want it again. Also, instead of syncing the sound with the light so both come on at the same time and increase at the same rate, the light comes on like a spotlight and the sound goes off about twenty minutes later. The housing is a bit cheap looking (it is relatively cheap, though, so that's no surprise)I thought this was a nice, comparatively inexpensive way to determine if light would wake me up. I will be replacing it with a higher end model, though.
