Great fishing reel, just what I was expecting. Worth the money.

I am a newbie when it comes to sea fishing and have no idea what is good or bad quality. But one thing I do know is the first real I bought for 25 quid fell to pieces within six months so I thought I needed to do some research. After asking a lot of questions to other fisherman I discovered there were two or three brands which ranked higher than all the rest so then I had to try and do some narrowing down. Eventually I decided on this model and I only chose the 8000 because that's what I had before. I must say I am delighted with the smooth running and operation of this beautiful real and have filled it right to the top with good quality braid and went straight out to fish with it to see if I could break it in. It took me three visits to catch my first fish on this lovely piece of equipment and to my amazement it was more so my first ever seabass weighing 6 1/2 pounds. So the bottom line is I really love this real and to make sure I stayed loyal to the brand. I also bought a rod.

I own 2 of these beauties. I did not write a review until I had thoroughly tested the reels and how they handled larger fish. I can tell you this, they have been tested. This is a reel that is a must have if you fish in the surf or just want a long safe cast. This thing does not even hesitate to take on the big ones. I use 50# braid on mine and they perform exceptionally. After a year of hard fishing, they are still just like new. A few scrapes but still a masterpiece. What else can I say, they are Penn and that is all I need to say besides what I have written. Keep them clean and I think they will last forever. I live in Florida, and they are always my go to rod and reel combo.
