Valuable for mental health clinicians
Like CBT-I suggests, I used to treat insomnia as a symptom of another problem, when in many cases I should be treating the insomnia as a primary diagnosis itself. This book lays out the process of CBT-I very succinctly. After I read through, I was ready to begin employing this intervention with my clients. I began making my own versions of the sleep diary suggested, but I found that once I had explained the principles behind CBT-I and received the client's buy-in, their primary insomnia began to resolve rather quickly without my even having to formally implement the protocol. Nevertheless, I now have the protocol ready to implement the next time it is needed. Like many cognitive behavioral interventions, once you understand it, it seems so obvious.

Too academic for me
I didn’t enjoy the reading as I found it too academic.
