Thorough, accurate, engaging
This book is aimed to introduce teens and preteens to vaccines, their history, and the facts surrounding them, and does that extremely well. Ms. Haelle has a gift for presenting complex information in a way that's both engaging and easy for a young, new reader - without sacrificing nuance or the main facts. It's a great introduction to the topic. It has a lot of good information, presented in an extremely accessible way for young teens and preteens. Most of it was not new to me - but then, I'm not the target audience. I got a copy, and I will give it to my boys as soon as they're in the age group - my older will likely be ready next year. I've also recommended it to friends with teens or pre-teens.

Perfect for nurses working with preteens and teens
A friend who knows I teach nursing recommended this book to me, and the timing couldn’t have been better. I have a group of registered nurses working on their capstone project, including developing a tool kit for 9–13-year-olds on HPV vaccines. This book meets all the criteria. It’s scientifically accurate, developmentally appropriate, engaging, and understandable (both language and graphics). The section on the HPV vaccine provides what the 9-13 year old audience of the toolkit needs to know. I will definitely be recommending to other nurses.
