THE ETCHING TOOL: The Etching Tool for the Cricut Explore, Explore Air, & Explore Air 2 sits in the "A" slot in the machine(s) and locks right into place per machine instructions (remove factory installed accessory holder first). It can be used to engrave and etch plastics, acrylics, metal clay, and can also etch/engrave on flat metal (copper, bronze, silver, aluminum [but not hard metals such as steel/stainless steel]) as long as the metal can fit under the Cricut rollers. It may also etch on glass and some papers. Test before investing in expensive media. Please note that this tool does NOT work in any machine(s) but the ones indicated in this listing. THE ALUMINUM BLANKS: This bundle includes two (2) anodized aluminum blanks for practicing metal etching. Color: Blue - Blank size: 3.50" square (88.9mm square) - Thickness: .016" (.406 mm), which is 26 gauge. For best results, remove any oils from the blanks by wiping their fronts and backs with alcohol and allow to dry before placing on machine's mat. The blanks may be tumbled to remove burs after etching (30 minutes works well). Note before ordering: Works with the Cricut Explore, Explore Air, & Explore Air 2 machines only; does NOT work in the Cricut Explore ONE or any other machine.
