Has anyone compared the middle wheel click pressure to the mx master 3 which I find requires way too much pressure for constant use?

For you, I've just compared them. The M650 L requires fractionally *more* pressure to click the middle button than the MX Master 3. It doesn't sound like it will suit your purpose. Suggest to head to a bricks and mortar retailer and try some out.

Can the mouse wheel be configured to scroll vertically and horizontally in spreadsheets?

it can scroll horizontally but only in specific apps. see logitech website

Is a usb connector included? some reviews & answers seem to be giving differing information on this front.

Yes, it's inside the mouse, there is a panel on the bottom of the mouse you slide back to reveal the battery compartment and the location where the wireless usb adapter is stored. It isn't clear if those reviewers didn't know this or it genuinely was missing from their unit
