Very handy - few limitations - instant on and reliable
I am upgrading my rating from 3 to 4 stars, in part due to the comments I received from the person who now has this camera in their car and in part because the seller is truly extraordinary in their customer service - seriously - skip to the end of this review, where I can't say enough good about these folks. The good: wide field of view shows a LOT of the road, and all three other intersections at crossings. This is very helpful and will show what really happened - like having an 'eye witness' in your corner. (as long as you're the one driving safely). :-)While I am admittedly picky (being a photographer) the distortion in the lens bothers me, but will probably not bother most 'sane' people. It really is simple to install, set up an use. Just configure the easy menu, stick it and forget it. It turns on instantly and begins recording. You don't need to reformat the card or pull the micro sd card every day. If you have an accident, you can pull the card then. The one other thing that I am picky about is the dynamic range. On a sunny day, the bright parts of the image are 'blown out' and the dark parts are VERY dark. It won't matter in terms of proof of incident, but again - I'm a photographer and it still bugs me.So - how good is the seller's customer service? Well, if I'm picky about cameras, I'm far more picky about customer service - so believe me when I say these folks are amazing. Despite my NOT having asked for a refund, NOT having returned the camera and having broken off the plastic fins that hold the camera to the mounting plate - they still insisted on giving me a full refund and not only apologizing for the camera not living up to my expectations, but actually and sincerely THANKING me for providing the feedback in order to improve their product. Truly world-class attitude and service!

Very unobtrusive dash cam - high quality video
I purchased two dash cams to compare - the Z-edge S@, and a different brand that attaches with a suction cup.- Field of View: The wide field-of-vision of the S2 records vehicle action to the left- and right-front of your vehicle, and gets a great look at intersections; the picture is somewhat distorted, similar to using a fish-eye lens on a camera. The narrower field-of-view (120 degrees +/-) of the suction-cup dash cam records a less-distorted view, but it limits what you can see off to the sides of your vehicle. If you are just recording a travel log, that's probably fine, but I bought them to record any traffic issues in front and to my sides, and that's where the wide field-of-view shines. +1 S2- Mounting: The S2 mounts with a plate that is affixed to the windshield with a 3M adhesive patch, thereby making it "permanent". However, the vendor supplies two of these plates, so you can install the plates in two vehicles, and transfer the dash cam between them if so desired - a big plus. Dash Cams with suction cups are removable, but also have a tendency to release on their own, usually when you are driving. +2 S2- Reflections: Since the S2 mounts with the camera being very close to the window, there is a lot less reflection from the dash board into the recording. The suction mount dash cam sits a lot further back from the windshield, and picks up a lot of reflection from the dash board (much like a heads-up display). This is very apparent with sunny days, and a lot of reflection from the dash board. +1 S2- Night Vision: The S2 has very good night vision capability, without having the (pretty-much) useless IR LEDs others have. The low-light capabilities record the road and vehicles at night, MUCH better than the suction-cup dash cam in comparison. +1 S2- Lens and picture quality: Both units record in 1080p mode (or other lower quality modes for longer recording time). The lens on the both units was adequate, and you can read the license plates off vehicles in front of you fairly readily. DRAW- Length of cable: The suction-mount dash cam came with a power cable about 6' long, and ended with a dedicated cigarette lighter plug. The S2 comes with a 13' long cable, and is a standard USB cable (A male to mini-B), and includes a cigarette plug with two USB ports. It also comes with several stick-on cable clamps to put the cable up out of vision is so desired. +1 S2- Recording: Both units use up to a 32 gb micro-SD card. The S2 comes with a 16 gb micro-SD card in the packaging. Both units feature the ability to adjust quality and recording time, automatic overwriting, locking a video segment manually if needed, the length of video segment recording, and an automatic G-force lock (locks automatically if in an accident where the G-forces are higher than a preset limit). Both have the capability to record motion when the vehicle is parked, via the on-board battery (only short-term, not on continuously). Menus are pretty easy to scroll through to set, although you will need to read the manuals to see exactly what each setting does. +1 S2 (for including SD card)- Screen display: The S2 has a 2.45" display to review recordings. The suction-cup dash cam had something smaller (maybe 2"). It's adequate for a quick review, but for really reviewing the recordings, you will want to hook up the S2 to a computer or HDMI TV. After all, you aren't watching this thing while you are driving (at least I hope not!). The screen automatically turns off after a time, but continues to record. There are other cams out there with bigger screens, but you'll probably want to hook those up as well to see the picture better.- Other items and thoughts: Comes with an 18 month warranty if you register the unit with the manufacturer. Having a dash cam these days is going to help in preserving evidence in the event you are involved with, or see an accident. You may consider it to be intrusive, but you control the camera and its recordings. After seeing more accidents in the news where dash cams recorded the collisions, it will record those without human memories being clouded or mistaken as to what witnesses have seen.- GPS: Some units have built in GPS capabilities. If you are using the dash cam as part of a VLOG, that might be great. Not sure if it really helps much in the event of recording a collision.- WiFi: Some units have built in WiFi capabilities. This would probably allow much easier viewing and downloading of information to a phone or tablet, without having to hook up to a computer or TV. That probably is a useful feature.- Overall: I really like the S2 dash cam. It has all of the features I was looking for, to the point where I am going to order a second unit for our other vehicle. I'm not going to look at it everyday, or download the recordings every day, but I'm pretty confident the unit will record what I need it to if I should ever need it. It won't prevent collisions or other accidents, but it will truthfully record them.UPDATE: Sept 14 2017: I now have two of these units in our cars. No issues at all with the cameras. However, the reflections from the dash board during the day was creating an issue. It MAY be eliminated if there was a polarizer filter on the camera, but that's just a guess. I ended up fashioning a small trapezoidal piece of plastic, attached to the bottom of the camera with 2 sided tape, and it extends to the window glass just below the line of sight of the camera. It is still unobtrusive, but makes all the difference in the world for quality of video during the day. I think any camera where the lens is not actually touching the window glass would have this problem; it took a bit of testing, but the problem was overcome quite easily. Quality of the video remains high; nighttime video is very good with the dynamic range of the camera. Customer service answered several questions very quickly when emailed. The only reason I would get rid of this is to upgrade to a higher quality video, or more storage capacity. I'm still not convinced that GPS would be better included, except it could probably actually record your speed if in an accident.

Don't work when you need it to
Bought it back in 2017, used it everyday until i got in a collision on Sept 4th, 2022. When i went to retrieve the video the most recent file was corrupted, and this thing saved videos from 2015 and 2016, but not when i needed is most.

Great camera!! Specially if you're in an accident or if you live in a busy area.
With this crazy world we live in I wanted to have a camera ready inside my car that is always recording! The other day I went out and found out my car has been hit in the front and obviously no one left a note and no one saw this happen. So I had to pay t get this fixed out of pocket!! So I desperately needed an easy to use camera! This camera arrived quickly and was extremely easy to use!! I love how this is practically plug and play!! No need to have a professional or a mechanic help! The one that I purchased already came with a 16bg SD card so no need to buy a one!!!I set this up slightly above my rear view mirror and it has a perfect 170 degree wide angle view! This helps show anyone in front of the car and can work as your best friend eyewitness incase of a car crash or if someone hits your car. I have two different cigarette outlets in my car. One stops sending power then the car is off and the other keeps the power on even if the car is turned off, so I can set this up to continue recording even when the car is off! PLus the SD card has loop recording so even after the card is full, it will continue to record over the oldest video! However for added protection, the camera has a built in G sensor so if youโre on an accident and the g sensor detects this, it will lock the video and it can not be overridden. Overall this is a great camera! Very easy to use and may save you in your next crash!!

Does what it is supposed to but It could be better.
I am not super happy with the video quality and it picks up a lot of reflection in my windshield. I guess it will do what it is supposed to.I do hate that the USB connector (micro) sticks out the side. This is a problem when you are trying to put it up against something on that side. I would prefer it coming out the top so I could run the cable straight up to the head liner.

Good camera, value for money, works well and easy to fit.
Very neat and easy to fit. Has the advantage of an extra long (13 feet, I think) power wire and a micro card. The ideal position for the camera would be behind the rear view mirror but on my car this space is taken up by a plastic casing. I would have liked to have fitted the camera towards the driverโs side of this casing but because the camera appears to be made for left hand drive cars it slides onto its mounting from the left. This means I did not have room on the driverโs side because if I left room to slide the camera on and off the mounting the camera would block my view of the road. I therefore fitted it on the passenger side where it works fine but it does mean that I cannot see the controls. This does not matter much because there is usually no need to touch the controls but it would be a problem if - say - I wanted to zoom in on something. The camera produces a very good quality picture and customer service by the supplier appears to be first rate.

A Good Solution
A clever design that becomes almost invisible in operation.Good quality video.Easy to install and set up.The fact you can remove it from the car (to download stuff to a computer being the obvious reason) is great. The only downside is that I have to physically plug/unplug it when I start/stop. Otherwise it stays on and could potentially flatten the battery (although I'm not sure how long that would take). Apparently with some cars this may not be the case (presumably because current to the lighter socket turns off when the ignition is turned off). No big deal really...

Well Worth the Cost
After trying a couple of other dash Cams, thought this would be worth a go,Very impressed with image quality , unlike one other comment the main reason i purchased is the 3M adesive ,I HATE suction fixings with a passion, this cam sits very close to windscreen so minimal reflections off glass,i am trying a couple of cable systems & will update , on my first use i have a great video of a near accident, video is superbnumber plates etc, Just watch your language i let out a few expletives !!

Excellent discreet camera
Great discreet camera with good picture quality. Not sure if I was a bit rough but the memory stick (provided) won't come out of the camera after insertion. Not an issue as I plug the cam into the laptop to download the files.

Was easy to set up and get running
Arrived on time. Was easy to set up and get running. Produces an excellent recording. Only down side for me was the method of attaching to the windscreen in that it doesn't use a rubber "sucker", this means its not easily removed when I'm in the dodgier parts of the city. That said this is the best dashcam I've owned and I've had a few.
