Siesta

remember seeing previews along time ago but the movie was never available. Love that its all Ellen Barkin & all of EB is in the movie. The plot is confusing, favorite scene is Claire on a high wire, I mean did EB really walk the tightrope. Jody Foster is a surprise ¬ quite sure what is the point of her character.

This is a fine and unusual movie staring a young and sexy Ellen Barkin. I paid only $15 for it.My only complaints are that the DVD case central hub was broken during shipping and the DVD was Region 2 (surprise). Fortunately the movie plays on my laptop, using the beloved VLC media player , so I'm keeping it.

I've had the soundtrack on CD for this movie since it first came out. (Miles Davis trumpet) You can't explain this movie to anyone. They have to watch it but you can't rent it anywhere. You have to buy it. Big name cast and great music for such a convoluted story. I'm glad I have my copy before it's gone forever.

The movie has been well reviewed elsewhere. This is just to let everyone know that none of these, despite the listed "aspect ratio: 1.66:1" are in widescreen format. They are all 4:3 pan-&-scan transfers. Sad. Let's hope Amazon corrects the incorrect listings, so this doesn't waste anyone else's time.

Other reviewers have mentioned the similaties between "Siesta" and "Jacob's Ladder." I would also like to introduce "Stay" into that mix. I must admit that all the clues are clearly in place, but I didn't recognize the twist until the end. This film has got a tremendous cast with some actors merely in it for a few minutes. Martin Sheen comes to mind. Ellen Barkin is fetching in her red dress. And the franticness with which she plays her character is disturbing. "Siesta" would not work as well as it does if not for the work of Miles Davis/Marcus Miller.

DVD arrived in fine condition n plays fine, but in does not play in English n that makes it worthless to me.

When it arrived it was what I ordered and played perfectly.

Die filmischen Rückblenden erschweren einerseits das Nachvollziehen der Handlung (ein bißchen abgemildert durch Datumseinblendungen), andererseits sind sie halt das richtige Stilmittel, um die Gegenwart der Hauptfigur Claire (Ellen Barkin), mit ihren Erinnerungen zu verknüpfen. Es ist eine stilistisch ansprechende Parallele, daß sich im Film Claire ihre jüngsten Erlebnisse zusammenreimen muß und der Zuschauer ohne Wissensvorsprung quasi die gleiche Aufgabe bekommt. In der prominenten Besetzung neben Gabriel Byrne, Isabella Rossellini ,Martin Sheen, Grace Jones und Jodie Foster hätte auch Madonna stehen können. Sie hat der Regisseurin Mary Lambert wegen der Nacktszenen einen Korb gegeben, aber sie für ihr Musikvideo "La Isla Bonita" Regie führen lassen. Vor 30 Jahren war der Film erfolglos, ist aber reizvoll genug, um auch heute ein kleines Publikum zu finden.

Film particolare e intriguante che conosco bene. DVD scadente con imagine inguardabile.

Film ist von der Handlung her ungewöhnlich, entwickelt sich allerdings überzeugend. Gewisse Längen vorhanden, jedoch nicht in dem Mass, dass man abschalten wollte.

Histoire abracadabrantesque, jeu, d'acteurs primaire et réalisation embrouillée, que diable tous ces bons acteurs sont-ils allés faire dans cette galère! Un film inintéressant qui va finir à 50cts dans un vide-grenier.AkaTshi Loutror.
