Yes, Finally!
Is it just me or do other like more bitter sourkrout then the store bought stuff. My husband got this for me as a gift. I love the color. I have used it several times. I can my own krout which this jar is helpful for large quantities. It's easy to use, build well, and the weights are perfect.

Great Size Fermentation Jar
This is a great size for most of my fermentation projects, such as kim-chee or sauerkraut. It's got a bit of weight to it and I love the lid. Lots of room for liquid to collect if it overflows the jar during fermentation. Normally this liquid would spill and pool around the jar. Here it gets collected around the lid.I think it's great that it comes with the weight. Most jars don't but you need to keep food being fermented below the liquid it's in (completely submerged). Oddly there is a space inside the jar at the top which is hard to clean. This is the only flaw I can see. I love the smokey blue color too. I hope to have this for years and hand it down to my kids.

Great Product, Poor Shipping Practices (Amazon Fulfillment)
I had a bit of saga with this purchase.Great Product:This fermenting crock is charming and functions exactly as I'd hoped. There's a delicious batch of sauerkraut nearly ready inside as I write. I appreciate that it's offered in a smaller size, as many are too large for my needs (and kitchen). The 2gal size holds a large head of cabbage, but takes up no more space on the counter than an old-fashioned coffee can. As a side note: the manufacturer is incredibly kind and helpful, do not hesitate to reach out for assistance if yours arrives broken as mine did. 100% class.Poor Shipping Practices (Amazon Fulfillment):The box this lovely little crock arrived in was barely bigger than the actual product box and contained zero packing material (both times) and was fulfilled and delivered by Amazon, not the manufacturer. There was also nothing on the outside that would indicate it required careful handling. Therefore, the first one arrived completely smashed. Thankfully the replacement arrived in useable condition, though it was packaged with the same carelessness. Amazon, please do better by these businesses if you're going to take care of the fulfillment. A paper calendar doesn't need to arrive in a box five times the size with half a roll of air cushion packaging, but a large ceramic crock just might.

Appears to be well made. Making our first batch of fermented cabbage now.
The crock appears to be well made and solid. It did have some sharp areas on the bottom that had not been removed when it was made. I took some sand paper to them and they removed pretty easily. The finish and color look nice and it looks good in our country themed kitchen. We have our first batch of cabbage in it now so we'll see how the process goes. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it again.

Poor manufacturing.
I wanted to love this fermenter so much. I love the light color, size, etc. Sadly, it was warped. When I sat it on the counter it wobbled significantly. Really poor manufacturing and quality control. I had to return it.

Weights don’t cover food
The crock is pretty and looks nice on the counter. The weights are too small & don’t cover the entire surface of the food. This results in floaters rising to the surface and rotting. I’ve tried to remove the food on the surface with a spoon, but with the narrow mouth of the jar, it’s near impossible.

Perfect fermenting jar
Why didn’t I buy a fermenting crock before?!? The lip is perfect for catching the juice that spills out the first few days of fermenting. The weights fit great inside and do their job. Lid allows for air out, but keeps anything from getting in. Perfect for the job!

Lid and water well need re-designed
I ordered this product after reading the reviews, as most were good. I needed a fermentation crock to make Kimchi. It's easy to use, BUT it has design flaws. A couple of things needs to be changed. The well in the top of the crock isn't deep enough, to adequately keep the holes on the lid covered under water. I had to literally fill it to the top of the edge to cover the holes in the lid. The depth of the well is an issue.I wonder if it was adequately tested prior to production???Also, I had to add water only 12 hours after the first time, because of the size of the holes in the lid (barely covered when the water is topped off). The well needs to be deeper, and/or the holes on the side of the lid need to be smaller. It is not a cheap product to have these issues. Had I known, I would NOT have purchased it.Also, I couldn't get the weights inside of the crock, after putting the Kimchi in. There's no indication as to how much space you have to allow for the insertion of the weights. I couldn't get them in. They actually should be in quarters instead of halves, for ease of insertion.I would return it if I hadn't made a batch of Kimchi. To return it I would have to throw out the Kimchi, which is an investment as well.... It's been a $50+ experiment that I would have spent elsewhere.
