MEKBOK NES Controller - [Original NES system] Pack of 2

My son recently started enjoying Mario games and I wanted to show him the original NES but I couldn’t seem to find my controllers. I read through listing reviews and chose this one and crossed my fingers. It was easy to plug in with no trouble and stays in through game play as expected. The buttons are easy to move and function the same as my original controllers. No stiffness and nothing irregular in gameplay. Some say the red buttons are different as they don’t sink in the middle (concave shaped) as original but it doesn’t make it difficult to play (these are round with no sinking in). Great alternative and reasonably priced.

Since I was a kid I always played with my step dad on his original Nintendo he got as a kid himself. The last few years the controllers were going out. These work great, and now when I visit during the holidays we can still play together

Both controllers look great. One controller has issues though. The down button doesn’t work well.

The product arrived WAY before the expected date. The quality of the build was spot on with one minor defect. The down button on the d pad on one of the controllers was mushy. It worked, but felt as if there was no feedback on the d pad itself. With a few minutes and a disassembly I found the culprit. The silicone pad was somehow bunched up causing the dpad to sit awkwardly. One quick motion to the right, and it settled back into place, I buttoned the controller back up and was back to playing classics like I was three years old again.

I bought a bunch of different NES replacement controllers from Amazon, and I honestly had pretty low expectation of these. There's an infamous NES controller being sold on Amazon that has a totally white case, but to my surprise these weren't them. The rubbers on these controllers are pretty stiff, probably close to original NES controllers when they were new. But if you are used to the worn-in feeling of old controllers, its probably going to feel a bit stiff if you need to mash a lot. Of course, there are various ways to break in the rubbers. The weight of the controller is pretty light compared to original ones. The A/B buttons are concave and not convex, but I don't mind that. The size and position of the buttons are pretty much an exact match.

I bought these to play a non functioning NES given to me by my brother I was able to get working. They look similar enough to the original controllers and are $10 for 2. The A and B buttons are convex (rounded outward) as opposed to concave (rounded inward or caved in). That’s not a deal breaker. I opened the 1st controller, plugged it in, and started to play Mike Tyson’s Punch Out. When pressing up on the D-Pad to punch Glass Joe in the face for the first time, Little Mac moved to the right. I did it again and he moved to the left. It took 3 or 4 tries of pressing up for Little Mac to punch how I wanted him to. I then opened the 2nd controller and it worked properly at first. I was punching my way through Punch Out no problem. My games were playing properly. It was good for about 2 weeks before crapping out similarly to the first controller. And instead of just returning them, I decided to pop them open and poke around inside (i’ve got plenty of experience with electronics and controller repair). The PCB inside is about 1/2 the size of the original controller and has a tendency to want to move around inside, causing the D-Pad to contact the board improperly. Also each rubber contact underneath the D-Pad is really big, causing contact to more than one direction unless hit with laser-guided accuracy. I ended up going to a local retro gaming store and buying an original NES controller. Don’t waste money on these cheap controllers.

Conseguí este par de controles para la emergencia y funcionan, pero se siente muchísimo la rigidez de la cruceta y esto suele resultar muchísimas veces en que se detecta, por ejemplo, el botón de "abajo" cuando presionaste solamente izquierda o derecha... Cualquiera diría que es/era algo común con ese diseño de control, pero recientemente pude conseguir uno original y se siente BASTANTE la diferencia.... En resumen, no son perfectos en detección y material, y más de una vez te van a hacer perder, pero si de plano no puedes conseguir uno original de segunda mano, pues supongo que son mejor que nada
