Trend T14 1/2 Inch Variable Speed Workshop Router, Perfect for Hand-Held & Router Table Use, 2300W, 240V, Black, T14EK

I bought this router (T14EK) for my Trend router bench.........I’ve tried using one of my other routers but to be honest, even though they worked.....ok.......they were never quite doing it 100%..........this machine however is spot on ......( and so it should be, as it’s made for just this purpose)........once I’d got it set up and worked out the nitty gritty ............ I gave it a few test runs......( rebates/groves up to 30mm... tongue and groove...... raised panels....... etc) ........there’s no discernible motor slow down and the cuts were smooth and even..........did all that I tried effortlessly.....This is a machine for the ‘Pro/Experienced Operator’..............its quite heavy 6.5kg......and needs treating with a good amount of respectwhen using free hand ...........@ £550 its a chunk of change to shell out........ but I take the view that it’s an investment and it is likely to give me many years of service...............( I have 3 other Trend routers of different sizes that I’ve been using for well over 25 years on site and they all work like new....’nearly’.........but they are 110v and the ‘youngsters’ scratch their heads and smile these days )..........hope you find this review to be helpful.........and I’ve still got all my fingers......work safe and happy joinery.........PS.......if you intended to use this machine on a table station..... I highly recommend the quick release kit.......

Ordered this after much deliberation on a replacement for my poor old Bosch.Fitted it into a workbench using the Trend router base plate (not included) and it works a treat. The integrated lift mechanism is perfect and easy to use. The remote control cable is brilliant and so much better than using a cable-tie on the on/off switch like you often need to do! Mounted the switch to the outside of the cabinet for a controlled and safe option to turn it on and off easily.Otherwise just can't fault it. Super smooth, stable, powerful and relatively quiet. Soft start is a nice touch particularly when using larger bits.

Excellent across the board. Able to perform some tasks that other routers could not. Bought addition collets, extender and spacer rings for it too. Great buy.

I'm using it for my Trend WRT router table where it's being stuck underneath table so I don't get to use any extra features but it still works there very well. Pity I cannot rotate or remove handles because once router to lifted up when changing router bits those handles are hitting router table plate. I like that there is an option to change speeds so when working with more delicate woods it can be lowered.

Great router for professional jobs.

This is a professional / trade router that is robustly constructed, evidenced by the weight of 6.5kg. It is powered by a 2.3kW motor with soft start and, seven selectable incremental speeds from 9,000 to 22,000rpm. Plunge depth is 80mm with height adjustment of 1mm per complete turn of the adjustment. A ½ inch collet is specified for the UK. The side fence is adjustable in 0.1mm increments. It has a separate foot / hand operated switch when the router is used with a router table. The work piece is illuminated by LEDs and, kept clear of debris with extraction through user provided equipment. It comes in a plastic, lockable carry case with a removeable tray for the accessories.It arrived with three (of the four) thumb turns for the fence in a bag, without springs and washers; one thumb turn without a spring and washer was fitted in the base. These are not in the packing list. Comments on-line also mention missing small parts. I contacted Trend who will forward the missing parts. However, they questioned whether I was correct as the thumb turns are fitted to the base: only one was fitted. I suggest that parts such as fence screws are factory-fitted and, screws are captive to prevent them becoming loose due to vibration in use.
