Another great electronic adaptation of classical music by Isao Tomita
Released in 1974, this all electronic adaptation of works by Claude Debussy is really quite good and showcases Isao Tomita and his flair for synthesizer wizardry. I think that Isao more or less captures the dreamy and haunting mood of Debussy's compositions and also adds a bit of his own (humorous) flair here and there with some "light-hearted" synth sounds. The music on this album was recorded entirely with a moog synthesizer although the sweeping and majestic sound of a mellotron with string setting pokes through the mix on occasion. As a big synthesizer fan, I thought it was interesting that the various settings on the moog were listed as "equipment" including things like oscillators and lowpass filters etc. This particular synthesizer was pretty versatile and a virtually infinite number of sounds could be generated, as is amply demonstrated by Isao on this album. In addition to the works originally included on Snowflakes are Dancing, the last track was taken from his Firebird album (1976) and is another work composed largely on the moog synthesizer although other keyboards were used including a Fender electric piano and a Hohner Clavinet C.The sound of this high performance CD is excellent and trust me, the changes in dynamics virtually leap out at you.All in all, this is an excellent recording of electronic music by an excellent electronic composer. Highly recommended along with his 1976 adaptation of The Planets (by Gustav Holst).

Arrived On Time - One of Isao Tomita's Best - Headphones/Earbuds A Must - Great Price
First off, the CD Isa Tomita (1932-2016) / Debussy: Snowflakes Are Dancing arrived as promised. For those of you who don't know, Isao Tomita was a pioneer in the synthesized music scene. He was able to manipulate the Moog Synthesizer like no other. This is his second album, which was released in 1974, The music is from the classical composer Claude Debussy(1862-1918) who is associated with "impressionist music". Mr. Tomita decided to play this well know classical piece because what what to show a non-traditionalists (Debussy) work, than by a non-traditionalist artist, Tomita. The best way to listen to this cd is with headphones or earbuds. You can hear all the nuances of the Moog Synthesizer, and only imagine Mr. Tomita's mind at work on putting this all together. As with Debussy in his day, the classical aficionados of 1974 railed against this as "not being classical". Though the CD was nominated for, four Grammy Awards. One of which was for Best Classical Album. So, if you are just beginning your search for non-classical, classical music, or are wanting to listen to a different version of "Snowflakes Are Dancing" this is most definitely the CD you want.

Clair de lune is so moving.
I have been wanting this album since I heard of Tomita through watching Bandersnatch. I got his Bermuda Triangle and I was hooked. Sadly soany of his albums are locked in cd form. Thus, when I saw this was available through prime after clair de lune was used in the closing ceremony of the Olympics in Tokyo, I knew I had to have it. This album is amazing and should be more widely known

My Favorite Tomita
This album came out in the early 70s, when I was a teenager, and I remember it generated both praise and scorn. The scorn was due to the fact that it was electronic music, produced on synthesizers. The group Yes had produced an amazing album titled Close To The Edge that used synthesizers to fine effect, and many artists across Europe were doing the same. But no one had attempted to do an entire classical album with synthesizers until Tomita came along.I loved it the moment I first head it. If it weren't for Vaughan Williams, Debussy would be my favorite composer. Tomita doesn't just go through the motions and produce a generic electronic sound for this music, he interprets it as if his synthesizers were an orchestra. My favorites on the album are "Reverie" and "The Sunken Cathedral."This is another road trip album, great for playing in your car while you drive through beautiful/fantastic landscapes. I own three copies -- I don't want to wear it out!

Brilliant Musician, Amazing Man!
Back in the '70's when I was just a teen, I was enamored with electronic music. Music is played with NO conventional instruments whatsoever. Isao Tomita was a genius and as soon as I heard his compositions and renderings of some great classical music, I was compelled to buy cassette tapes of his work. Now, they have been released in HD CD form. Some are comparatively expensive such as the quadrophonic recordings, but if you have a love for ambient, electronic music, it is well worth the cost. Totally reccommended, totally enjoyable.

My intro to the glories of classical electronic wonderfulness
An old college roomate turned me on to Isao Tomita ( as well as other electronic artists like Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, etc,). I liked it at the time, and my appreciation for it ( and classical music) has grown over the years. This was one of those "must get" albums on CD, but was a bit tough to track down by the time I decided to find it. It was worth the effort. Debussy is timeless, as is the artistry of Tomita.

Defining Electronic Music
An excellent composition, and one every musically inclined person should be aware. An early conceptualization of what electronically produced music could be. The Debussy composition re-imagined is a punctuation mark for the 20th century., and clearly an arrow pointing to music of the 21st.

Fidelity and overall sound is fantastic.
Strangely familiar sounding music…very experimental and adaptive especially considering it was recorded in the early seventies. Near genius. Great background music.

Excelente experiencia auditiva
