Navigates well but uploads seamlessly 50% of the time
There's better options out there. I had 3 rides disappear then if they didn't disappear they never uploaded.... I should've stuck to Garmin. It navigates well if that's worth anything ...

Mountain Bike Perspective
The media could not be loaded. Despite having a smart watch and generally riding with my phone in my pocket, I tend to like having a small cyclometer display on my bars. This might be a carry over from my earlier years of riding prior to smart devices being here there and everywhere but I still find it convenient to have some information at a quick glance. That said, I don't think this is the right device for a mountain biker but I can certainly see the value for a road focused cyclist.Generally speaking, the build quality is great. The housing feels robust and well designed. In fact, I wrecked pretty good on my first ride with this attached and it didn't detach or show any signs of damage. I opted for the direct bar mount with the little rubber bands and this worked well on a standard flat bar. It doesn't move even during rigorous riding (or crashing in my case). Physically buttons feel good and have a nice direct feedback so you know that you clicked them. Battery has been good especially give that it is a backlit full color screen.Setup was a straightforward. I used the Bryton app and it connected very smoothly to my iPhone 13. Using the device was a little cumbersome at first as I didn't understand exactly what I was doing (should read instructions sometimes) but after a little trial and error it is easy enough to start, stop and pause rides. It does a good job of detecting motion and pretty accurately knew when I was taking a break along the way.Usefulness - This, as I said, is more of a supplementary gadget for me as I am not using it for navigation but mostly for heads up information on speed, distance, etc. It is very easy to read, even in pretty direct sunlight. The main screen is highly configurable and you can pretty much put what you want where you want it as you see fit. It even does a nice job displaying past ride information and more detailed stats despite the small screen although I would expect most folks would use the app instead. Presumably, if you had additional inputs like cadence sensors and whatnot, you could get even deeper. I do not. Some minor issues I encountered were as follows:- The beeping is somewhat confusing and I didn't get what it was doing but it seemed to be tied to loss of GPS signal intermittently or when I got a new message from my phone. I found turning it off was best.- Although the interface is easy to read, sometimes I wasn't sure how to get back from one page to the next or if my ride was paused or not. The icons didn't always communicate that well but I mostly figured this out after some trial and error.- Ride information is displayed nicely int he app and you have the option of linking third party apps like Strava and others directly to it but there doesn't seem to be a way to dump it into the native fitness app on an iPhone which is where I tend to keep all my metrics. This is a really nice cyclometer when it comes down to it. I found the GPS to be very accurate even in pretty dense forested trails on a cloudy day. It is nice that it also pops up messages and pertinent information from your phone as well. However, I think, for me, and probably for most people not in need of its guidance systems it's just way too much. The core of what I want out of a cyclometer can be had for a fraction of the price on more basic models. My watch already does a great job tracking my position as well as my heart rate, calories, etc. so that feature doesn't add much value for me.Long review short, if you don't need highly visible directions and you already have a means for tracking ride stats like a watch, then I don't think this device is worth the cost. However, if you are a serious road biker, or want a great looking screen and GPS tracking without having to rely on a watch or a phone, this is a very capable device. Although it isn't super useful for me, I do think it is well made and worth considering for anyone doing a lot of road cycling.

Unit is great but.........
The computer itself is awesome but the companion app is terrible. The workouts from Training Peaks don't seem to ever sync properly. You can create your own in the mobile and computer app to copy them but they do not save or sync properly either unless they are very simple and basic. They get jumbled up almost every time. Support seems to be lacking as well. I got one response that basically said sorry and nothing else. I would really like to keep this unit but I have another one coming today from another company to compare.

great monitoring tool
An extremely feature-rich GPS bike/cycling computer is the Bryton Rider S500E. Along with voice search, route advice, live tracking, and preloaded maps, it provides online navigation. Along with ANT+ FE-C compatibility for Smart Trainer features, the experience is enhanced by real-time climb information and climb alarms. The inclusion of Shimano Steps with ANT+ LEV support would be highly appreciated by e-bike fans. It also features electronic shifting, GNSS satellite connectivity, BLE 5.0, 24-hour battery life, and support for radar systems. An all-around cycling partner.

POS
I can't believe I spent over $200 on this POS. All it does is beep and there is no contact phone number for Bryton!

Really enjoying it
I'm really enjoying this! It was easy to install, connect and use. The large display is bright, clear and accurate. It stays securely where put and doesn't bounce or slip. The battery life is impressive - is been over a week already and it's no where near dead! I love seeing the mapping detail of the routes and the workout training has been fun. So far, so good!!

Probably won't use...
I have previously been in the Garmin ecosystem and I thought I'd try out something new and if it worked out, I wouldn't have to change computers between bikes. My initial problem with this device is that you have to download an app on your phone and sign away your life (location, etc.) in order to log in. The next problem I have is that there is no map loaded and the GPS screen just shows a grey background. According to what I have been able to learn from the documentation, you have to download a Windows application on a PC, then download the map of your region, then upload it to the device via the Windows app. I may still give this a try for the basics (speed, distance), but after these negative items, I decided that this device helps prove the "you get what you pay for" lesson.I like that it has a USB-C charge connection, and it comes with a good selection of accessories to attach and protect it, however right now it's sitting on the counter for a week and I regret downloading the app and signing the EULA.
