Lyric Delite Wild Bird Seed, No Waste Bird Food Mix with Shell-Free Nuts and Seeds, 5 lb. Bag

It is mostly made up of nuts and they are not cut small enough. The small birds just throw them on the ground. I have a squirrel proof feeder which feeds from top to bottom; the nuts are always getting stuck and leaving the feeder empty at the bottom, full at the top. I had to switch to a different feed.

This was a great buy. I've used Lyric bird foods for the past 7 yrs. You can count on always receiving a great product when purchased from a reputable dealer. However I am not sure what has happened with Lyric. Both Delite bags received in May 2015, had the older design on them. I have them in airtight containers and when I opened the container with the Delite food in i,t there were hundreds of weevils. I've had to go though my entire inventory of foods to make sure they weren't spreading. Nothing except the single affected bags. Not too pleased about this at all and will definitely think twice before ordering from Lyric via Amazon.

I think it would have helped if they had used different descriptive words than "seeds", or shown something in the pictures to give scale. I thought these were smaller seeds, such as I found in other mixes. Sunflower, millet, etc.. Indeed, the description spoke only of "hulled seeds". What I found was almost exclusively unbroken nuts, some as large as a whole shelled walnut. In my opinion, they could at least have broken them down a bit.They will not fit through the holes of my feeders, and they are too big for the smaller birds I particularly wanted to attract. The photo on the front of the bag of a bluebird sitting on a cone flower did nothing to dispel my expectation this food was suitable for smaller birds.Save this product for feeding the squirrels and chipmunks, or if you only want to attract large birds. It is particularly inappropriate to offer nuts such as these in the Spring, when parent birds try to feed them to their chicks and the chicks can choke on them (this advice comes from the Audubon Society). That said, the product, such as it was, did appear to be fresh.

This product was purchased to attract birds to a brand new feeder for my grandkids. .We knew nothing about the process and this product did not disappoint. This is the scrub jays favorite. They must have told all of their pals in the neighborhood because the sparrows, doves, squirrels, raccoons, and gray foxes showed up to enjoy it also.

I have 8 wild bird feeders and the birds love it. When they see me going out in the yard to fill the feeders all the trees get filed filled with wild birds (7 varieties) and they start singing and chirping until I'm done. Sometimes they get with-in 2 to 3 feet from me and sing to me as if the were happy.I also have squirrels that feed on the same food. All seem to find harmony and share the food.SAME COMMENTS FOR THE FOOD BELOW.
