Very High Level
OK, I'm a communication engineer that's been working tactical communications and networks for over 25 years. This book is very high level introductory book. One example is the way it explained multicast with a HAIPE device. No mention of configuring HAIPE in IGMP host mode or IGMP by-pass modes which allows the HAIPE device to pass mutlicast traffic and to dynamically join and un-join multicast groups. The diagram was miss-leading showing IGMP proxy on the source side. You do need to configure IGMP proxy on the receiver red side router, because routers talk PIM. What I mean is you need to configure the router with IGMP proxy to speak IGMP on the interface connect to the HAIPE. A separate device is not needed as indicated in the diagram. Anyways, there I could provide many examples just like this throughout the book. Bottom Line: This is a high level book that would be OK for as introductory to Tactical Comms, but does not provide the details and has some misleading information.
