That is not shown on the picture, and I was really surprised and some what disappointed when I found out that violin is made in 2 dimensions instead of 3D. And there are no real strings - everything is grooved on plastic - more like bas-relief than a real thing. But then I have thought, this is a good thing too. First of all - it visually connects two different forms of art: music, sculpture and painting.Then too, it is a toy not meant to stay in the box and intended for play, so you could easily clean it, wash it or wipe and make sure no dirt or anything got inside. Good thing for any actively playing collector.

My 9-year-old niece is taking violin lessons. In the past, her mother/my sister saw "Violin Barbie" in a store and wanted to buy it for my niece, but it was a Collectors Item and was priced at $50 so they had to leave it at the store!! Since then, my sister has not been able to find another Violin Barbie anywhere; so when she mentioned it to me in November, I went to Amazon.com on Cyber Monday -- and YOU HAD IT for only $9.99!!! I contacted my sister right away and told her it did not come with a doll, but we could get the outfit and tiny violin for that price -- with FREE shipping -- and she said "ORDER IT"!!! I wasn't at their house when my niece opened the Violin Barbie Fashion Outfit on Christmas morning, but my sister assured me SHE LOVED IT and wanted to take it out of the package and play with it immediately!

My daughter is ten, so she's sort of running out of steam on Barbie stuff. But the "I Can Be" fashion outfits have turned her around and made her start thinking about careers while she plays. Very cute outfit. Girls loved adding it to their collection of barbie clothes. Must say they don't play with the violin but I didn't really expect them to. Fit as it should.

My granddaughters, aged 4 and 7, love these outfits and especially the violins. Their mom and I played violin in school, so we could give them tips and pass along our love for music and this instrument especially.

My daughter is learning the violin so she's absolutely amused by this set. Dress design so-so. We bought only because of the violin.
