Great Value
Tape adheres well but also comes up cleanly for repositioning. One layer is easy to read through but I do not recommend additional layers for reinforcement. The box has a built in dispensing feature that works really well. Overall great value for the money.

Great for books
My librarian friend put me on to this product. I bought it first when the grandchildren were small and book page tears were frequent. I have kept it on hand from then on. My only complaint is that it is Very Difficult to separate the tape so you can use it

Worth the money to fix and restore old papers and photos almost invisibly and safely
I use this on antique books, postcards, and photos. It is wonderful and safe for your paper. It is almost invisible, but I use it on the back side of photos, if possible. I didn't get a boning tool to smooth it down right away, I would use the back of a spoon. I have a boning tool now and it is a lot easier than a spoon! I used an entire roll up and bought a new one because the quality of the tape is worth every penny. It is a tissue, not a tape really. It is much thinner than tape, doesn't show like tape, and works just as well.

READ TO LEARN HOW TO SEPARATE the tape BUT NOT LIKE IT USED TO BE
This product is NOT what it used to be. Hence the one star. But FIRST, let me explain HOW TO SEPARATE THE TAPE FROM THE BACKING! All you need to do is to take a small piece of Scotch tape or any other kind of tape, and press it on the EDGE of end of the piece of the Lineco tape you are going to use. The Lineco tape will come up and off the backing. If it doesn't, you are trying on the WRONG SIDE. Flip it over and do it one the other side. Trust me. This works.NOW FOR THE BAD NEWS. I have been buying this tape for years! I've bought it on Amazon 13 times since 2012. My last purchase was in July, 2024. This will be my LAST purchase. This tape used to be thin, and almost undetectable when used. The manufacturer calls it TRANSPARENT. It USED to be transparent. It no longer is. I wrote the company. The Vice President and General Manager wrote me back. He confirmed that this is NOT the product it used to be. He said that when Covid came, the paper supplier and the gum supplier both went out of business. He said that what they are producing now, (and now is 2024) is the best that they can offer. This is so sad because it was a wonderful product for transparency. Where the old product was transparent, the new product looks WHITE. Some recent reviews like the tape. They would have liked it better before Covid. If you can't get the tape to separate, please read what I said at the start of this review.

Blends in beautifully
Despite the image on the front of the box, I had no idea that YOU HAVE TO PEEL THE BACKING OFF OF THE TAPE. Then you are left with a tissue - like tape that's sturdy enough to handle easily, but still has a little curve from being on the roll. It's super thin and, although you can see the rip of the paper, you can barely see the tape or feel the tape edge.PS - For all the times Amazon reviews ask about "sheerness," and you don't know what the hell it means, the one time it finally applies, it's not even available as an option in the star ratings!!! So I'm telling you, it's sheerness gets 5 stars.

Works Great (read my Separation Tip)
Great stuff, but as noted in other reviews it is extremely difficult to separate the backing from the actual tape. However, I figured out a workaround which totally alleviates this difficulty. For this you'll need a piece of regular masking tape or other tape that's fairly sticky (regular Scotch tape does not work, so that's your point of comparison). Bandage tape (first aid type), artist tape, or perhaps even a small piece of duct tape will do. Stick that tape ("helper tape") to the non-glossy side of the Mending Tape. Pull up on the helper tape and voila, the Mending Tape will separate from its backing. As shown in the attached pic, I cut the Mending Tape so that the backing (glossy) is longer than the actual Mending Tape. Maintain this approach when cutting the Mending Tape to size and you won't have any issues separating the layers in the future.

Book page repair successful
The tape was fairly easy to use. The directions for use could have clearer. A few words in addition to the simple picture would have helped. Peeling the tape from the sticky part was a tiny bit of a challenge.Fingernails were helpful. Still I figured it out and successfully repaired the two book pages. I'm not certain as to how long it will last since the repair was made yesterday. I would buy it again.
