Easy fix for worn out downspouts
Our downspouts connect to french drains and had been chewed up by string trimmers mowing the lawn. This was an easy fix requiring no tools or digging and took about 5 minutes to replace.

Works well. Not sure why the low ratings.
This item works for its intended use. I have flex-drain brand corrugated drain pipes. I used it to connect a cut piece of pipe to the male end of a gutter downspout adapter. It could also be used to couple two pieces of flex-drain that were cut. I did not expect it to be water tight, so I wrapped the whole thing with black pvc pipe wrap tape.

Seems like a quality drain cap for the money.
Comparable to what you can get at Home Depot or Lowes but with some savings.

Flex-Drain Flexible Landscaping Drain Pipe System
Flex-Drain Flexible Landscaping Drain Pipe SystemI have mixed feelings about this line of product. It is relatively inexpensive, pretty easy to install and for the most part, it does what it's supposed to.I do however have complaints. While many components are readily available they fail to tell you that the components won't go together unless you buy the coupler (55020 Drain Pipe Coupler). Without this critical piece you end up trying to connect pieces that are male on both sides and will not interlock with each other.Secondly I question the long term durability of this system as it is somewhat fragile and damages easily. In fact while stretching it out with my bare hands I was able to overstretch a few parts causing some crumpling which creates a weakened spot. I also have had the coupled pcs. pop apart and while snapping them back together is relatively easy it is a pain in the butt.I like the system but I have to say I think it was poorly thought out. The couplers which are used throughout the system are really just pressure fit. There are no pieces that actually "positive lock" together which is disappointing. While I am happy for now, I pretty much know I will be redoing this in a few years because as I stated I don't see these lasting very long.Overall I am giving it 3 stars mainly because it does what it is supposed to but I must say I think I am being generous with that rating.About my rating system3 stars = meets expectations1 or 2 stars = fails to meet expectations4 or 5 stars = exceeds expectations and really rocks! How I came up with 3 stars on this item.1. ease of installation = 4 stars2. durability = 2 stars3. Instructions = 0 (There are none, there is nothing on their website)The retailer I bought some of these components from did NOT sell the darn couplers so finding out that I needed them and tracking them down was a PAINAs always, If you have a question, post it I usually responde within 24 hours.

Worked Perfectly for connecting a Grate to Flex Pipe Sump/Gutter Drain
Was exactly what i needed to add a grate to the outlet of my sump pump / gutter downspout discharge with 4in flex drain black corrugated pipe, had no luck with numerus other adapters, this one works perfectly. I might need to go back and use something to fully secure it in place but it seems to be fine currently.

Not a drain coupler at all
As others have pointed out this product is actually a short section of 4" drain pipe, in other words with two female ends, not a coupler with two male ends. Worthless for its advertised purpose. Even though it was only less than $3, it was still money, and my time, completely wasted.I jerry rigged a solution of my own that got the job done. On the end of one 4" pipe I cut into the pipe in four places to a length of about 3 or 4 inches. I then forced the end of the pipe to be joined into the modified end of the other pipe and then squeezed the pieces together by hand, ensuring that the ridges and valleys of the two pipes fit snugly. Finally I secured the connection with a couple of long zip ties. You could also wrap the joint with a good waterproof tape. A simple solution that worked for me.
