I can't underscore this enough: I hate water beads. But my kid loves them, and they keep her entertained for hours. Honestly...they are fun to play with. It's just cleaning them up that I hate. A regretful 5/5 stars.

My 4.5 year old soon needs help with fine motor skills, so I bought this to help stregthen his hand muscles. The tools are a little flimsy, but the water beads are cool. The plastic animals are a little random too. For example, one of the turtles is spray painted gold, but my kids think it's a rare species, so it all works out. Overall good for the price.

This is a great activity for older kids, and it comes with so many different things to make it a fun and unique experience for each play time. I bought this as a gift, and one thing to know is that the actual box of materials is much smaller than I envisioned. This is fine functionally, because the box is filled with all of the specified items, however I was just expecting it to be larger when I envisioned wrapping up the gift. They recipient was still very excited to receive it though, regardless of the size!**An important note from one mom to the next** Make sure to never handle the dry beads (before they puff up) inside, if you have small children or pets. I have heard stories about little babies accidentally finding a dry bead and swallowing it, and as the beads expand when wet, this would not be good. I am paranoid about this. So, whenever I make water beads, I soak the dry beads outside, and do a thorough check that none are on my hands or feet before coming back inside, just to be as safe as can be!

This has to be one of my most favorite “Amazon Christmas purchases” this year!! I ordered this for my 3 1/2 yr old. With the pandemic (and all the extra time home) I had been regularly making sensory bins for my kids to play with (dry pasta, cotton ball, dry peas etc.) I wasn’t even looking for this item, but of course (since Amazon has been quarantining with us) it recommended it. My son had played with something similar at school, so I was familiar, and ordered it. Amazon was right!! This was a hit! Both my 3 1/2yr old and 6 1/2 yr old LOVED playing with the water beads and all the tools (and let’s be honest, so did I)! The set comes with a small bag of dry water beads, and all sorts of tongs and scoops. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! The beads, when dry, are very small. But there are a lot, enough to set up several sensory bins! You only need 2-3 table spoons of beads for fun, accompanied by several cups of water. The bin is really more for storage. I would recommend getting a larger plastic storage tub (we used a clear plastic 16qt tub), for play time. It takes the beads a few hours, soaking in water, to achieve their proper size. So be sure to set it up BEFORE the kids are ready to play with it. After a couple days I put a few drops of dish soap in the bin (nervous about mildew) and told the kids they were now bubble beads. We used for about a week before we dumped them. We have plenty of the dry ones left to make at least a couple more tubs.

I can't even tell you how long my kids sat and played with this. I got this as a gift for my 4yr olds bday. Him and his siblings loved it sooo much. Even my 11yr old who is very picky about touching certain textures played with it for hours. All the additional little tools and toys that come with it are so much fun to use. And the joy that was on my kid's faces whenever I blew up not one but two little inflatable pools was out of this world. When I received it in the mail, a few of the orbeez beads had gotten out of the bag but it wasn't a huge deal because it does come in the carrying box so they were all contained and easy for me to round up. This purchase was 100% worth the money. Definitely will get yours moneys worth in hours and hours of playtime and the whole family can get involved. We are a family of 5 so the 2 pools really made it easy for us to all play together and not be crowded.

Beads worked well and felt wonderful, very satisfying. I’d say I soaked mine for 5 hrs (suggests 4-6) and that seemed to work well for 1 tsp of the beads as directions suggested. They were advertised as reusable, but I activated them about 27 hrs ago and they have yet to dry out at all. So while I doubt they could be reactivated, I think they could be stored activated and reused each time you make some. The tools that it came with are very cheap and one of my scooper tools broke the second I touched it.Edit: after laying beads out on a paper towel they actually did shrink, it just took about 3 days. So more reusable than I originally thought!

This is really good, easy, cheap fun for littles! It is fun to watch the beads grow and the little tools are a must! One canister could last us all summer.
