This was interesting to read. I couldn't put it down!
I had always wondered who Lois was and this kind of fills in the gaps. She was mentioned a lot in the two documentaries, but you only end up seeing her at Big Edie's birthday party.

The Veil is lifted from the Ghost of Grey Gardens
I became interested (or fascinated) with the Beales' many years ago. I read what I could find and even saw the Broadway play a few times! Then a few years back, I found out about Lois's book, 'My Life at Grey Gardens' which was more of a journal-recanting the days events as they unfolded over the time she lived with Big and Little Edie. This book draws some of the 'secrets' back-like the fact that Lois lived at GG during the filming of the documentary. We learn more about the additional 'players' Tom Logan and the wonderful Doris-and loyal Brooks. We also learn about Lois, and her complete comfort in her independence. We see into her soul, and rejoice in her eccentricity. For the naysayers' this is not rocket science-it is not meant to be. It is a wonderful recanted set of memories that through Tania, Lois has shared with us. Its an easy and lovely read-to add to my collection.

Absolutely Terrific!!!
I loved the book, such a lovely tribute. She told the story of Lois so beautifully, I feel like I know her. Tania is a brilliantly talented writer and if you haven't purchased any of her work you are missing something special. Thank you so much for writing this. Loved it from cover to cover <3Karelle Downen

unfortunate
I've known Miss Wright going on 5 years, this book in my opinion doesn't represent the Lois Wright so many others know and love, I love the first book written by Lois alone, 13 months and Beyond I was genuinely hoping this read would be enjoyable but alas it's not. To start with the pictures are small and blurry, the writing style is childish and unrefined the story line jumps around. I had a hard time finishing this book as it's rather boring, Ms.Wright however,is anything but boring. I guess Lois really didn't open up to the author, I don't know, there's just so much filler peppered with shocking tidbits that aren't really shocking, more like laughable. The authors constant need to react, respond and retaliate against negative or less than favorable reviews is very telling and somewhat frightening, also VERY transparent. This book is not nor has ever been the complete life story of Lois Wright, it is a creative nonfiction account taken from letters written decades ago. Absolutely nothing was vetted with any of the subjects in the book, making bold accusations and assumptions of the dead friends and relatives of Ms Wright. This book could have been a success if it had been kept in line with Lois's first Memoir, which merely copied word-for-word Lois original Grey Gardens diary. There is nothing in this book outside of the author's own agenda- no research was carried out with Lois's living friends, acquaintances, colleagues Etc, simply asking Lois niece to check with Lois who is unable at age 91 to grasp the depth of the smut written about her own mother, father, brother and dear friends is not acceptable research for a biography in my opinion. Unlike the author I've known Miss right for years now, I've visited her many times and we've spoken on the phone and have even exchanged Christmas cards Ms. Wright is an extremely private, eccentric artist. Over the years several authors have tried to write Lois life story, none of them up to her high standards.. this is no exception Think Dirty Laundry , a cheap tabloid, it is very unfortunate as Miss Hagan was given full access to all of Lois personal letters and Diaries and comes up with a book that is in my opinion rushed, poorly-written, childish and absurd. It casts a dark shadow on the very Legacy of Grey Gardens, so I title this review unfortunate.
