HobbyZone Champ S+ BNF Airplane

this is my 3rd champ S+, my first one just lasted a take off since it rolled over on the take off think it was a malfunction from the factory, 2nd plane was working good geo fence auto landing and holding pattern was awesome, but then it stop working for any reason wasnt binding anymore and the i got a 3rd unit this one, but the plane will not auto land will not hold pattern and is difficult to flight even tho i had to get the plane in expert mode to fly it by my self. some planes has some issue with gps and some other dont and will fly good for a few hours after the FC will stop working

After ordering, I had two thatbwewre delivered with the tail snapped offf. Both the original and replacement planes were apperently damaged by the manuals coming loose from being taped to the foam interior. It's surpassing thatis is a problem, you would think that they would be more careful and put the ,annuals beneath the foam carrier. It also raises questions about the fragility of this plane, especially ially for beginners. I may have to look,for an alternate product and put an s3sx receiver in it,.

This plane is too complicated for its own good. I watched the videos read the manuals and try as I might, I could not get this plane to program. As a result in two flights it crashed and broke. I fixed it and tried again and the third time, like other reviewers noted, it took over control and flew off into a tree on its own. I had fun with the sport cub - it just worked. The champ is a serious and expensive flawed design. Wish I would have listened to the reviewers and avoided the airplane. I will buy other HobbyZone airplanes but not ones with GPS control.

This plane flew fairly well, although be warned that the auto-land feature does not work well near tall trees and houses… my plane set up its auto land approach right into a tree. But overall this is a very beginner friendly plane.One thing to be aware of - this plane only binds to certain radios. Don't assume that all Spektrum radios will work with it. I have a brand new Spektrum 6-channel and the plane would not bind to it. When I called Horizon Hobby, the technician told me that the plane only worked with certain Spektrum radios, not mine.For what it's worth, the Horizon Hobby technician was unbelievably rude. A pity because they used to have excellent customer service… apparently not a priority for them any more!

I picked up one of these at a local hobby shop as a small trainer to teach people how to fly on. A friend let me fly his Hobbyzone Sport Cub S and it was a great experience, however, I wanted something that had a brushless motor so it would last longer. The champ fit the bill perfectly. The gyro stabilization works well and most maneuvers are a breeze in the "advanced" mode. I found it didn't have quite enough power to knife edge and maintain altitude but since it is a beginner model I can't complain too much. I do wish that a version without gps was available at a lower price for people who have full range transmitters and don't care about auto land and virtual fence like myself.

Bought this at local hobby store and on first flight it took off, turned around, ignored all controller commands and flew away never to be seen again. I am giving it 4 stars here still because I told Horizon and their US based support promptly shipped me a replacement. We will see about the next one.
