UPDATE!!! They cheapened my Goldilocks Pillow in My Survivor Buff Cover!
I just ordered a couple of pillows and I have to say that after all this time of being a thoroughly happy customer, I was extremely disappointed in the change of quality in the pillows. The new ones arrived and immediately I could tell that they were different. The foam is thinner and less dense. It collapsed as soon as I lay my head on it so my ear has no protection from the surface beneath it. I noticed that King has doubled the price for these things and now, they've cut the height and depth of the foam to practically nothing. It feels cheap and it lacks stability. I am so discouraged! It's a freaking piece of an eggcrate mattress. Why would you rip us off by passing this crap off as the same stuff? Now what will I do? King Products, why so greedy?EVERYTHING BELOW THIS HAS CHANGED SINCE MY LAST ORDER!This pillow renewed my ability to sleep. I've had terrible pain in my right ear for months and without going into all the drawn out details of going from one doc to another, it turns out that I have CNH. There's no cure and it hurts worse than a toothache. I was applying Lidocaine 4% each night which was just enough to allow me to fall asleep. But usually, by 3:00, I was wide awake and miserable for the rest of the night. The day this pillow arrived, I couldn't wait to try it out. That night, I didn't use the Lidocaine, it was all or nothing so I went to bed and rested my head in the pillow and it felt very comfortable for me. The foam egg-crate cradled my head securely without feeling any rocking sensation. So far, so good, but I really had high expectations for this little thing. But, when I woke up and saw that it was 8:30 and I made it through the night and my ear wasn't crimson red, hot as a poker or throbbing with pain, we all did some version of an under-cover happy dance, or something like that!I read some reviews where people had problems with it being too thick or too tall or too big or too small. I didn't have any of those issues. This is my Goldilocks pillow...it fits perfectly. And now after using it for a few weeks, the lesions have completely gone away. I no longer have any pain at all and I truly love the lady who has helped me at the company. Also, to address the problem with a cover for the pillow; I knew that with my long hair and my Persian cat's hair, I would need a cover right away, and I was lucky enough to have a few on hand. The show "Survivor" sells their buffs each season and on season 4 about 20 years ago, I bought one. After that we bought a few generic buffs to use for camping and hiking. They fit perfectly around the pillow and they don't compress the foam fingers. I've added a few pictures to show you what mine look like. Hope you get as much relief from your pillow as I am getting from mine. I will be a customer of this vendor until my ear falls off. Eeeewww.UPDATE: I wrote my initial review on this pillow a couple of years ago. And thankfully, I'm still a very satisfied customer. I'm still sleeping soundly and pain-free on my lucky and very inexpensive little miracle cure of a pillow. Yet, I still see readers who find it uncomfortable. I know this isn't going to work for everyone, but it's those consumers who are happy with the product but can't seem to find a cover for their pillow that I would like to try to reach out to once again. In my first review, I told you about how we just luckily had a "Survivor" buff on hand, as well as a few other generic ones that we use as neck or face covers while skiing or hiking in the winter. We call them balaclavas and you can find them in many fabrics from wool down to cotton, which is what my favorite covers are made from. They range in price from less than $10.00 to as high as you want to go. But to use one as a pillow cover as in my pictures, you could pick up a couple of soft cotton ones for about the same price as a medium thread count pillow case. And they are THE PERFECT COVER.I hope this helps some of you find what you are looking for. These pillows weren't made to sleep on without a cover. To any of you who has ever tried to do that. I'm sure you've discovered the reasons that just won't work!

Does the job, but feels slightly unstable while trying to sleep
Wish it came with a cover. But, does the job without one. My cartilage piercings were still bothering me even after a full year...I purchased this to use at night while sleeping on that side. It has helped. The product itself was a little larger than I had anticipated. The only problem I had with it was, while trying to sleep, it seemed like my head was teetering back and forth because there wasn't enough surface area to keep it stable. If it were an inch wider on each side I think that would help quite a bit.***The more I use this, the less of a stability problem I seem to have. Maybe because I'm squishing down the foam a little bit. Or I'm just getting used to it.*****Another update - I have given up on this thing, instead I bit the bullet and got a "Womfy" pillow...search for it here on Amazon. It has solved my ear problems and helped with my neck problems.

A base structure for a DIY ear cushion.
REASON FOR BUYING:I bought this because I have an infected helix piercing that I am trying not to lay on.FACTS:From the photo that was there when I purchased it, but is gone now, I expected it to be white and really soft and cushiony. I received a blue, more dense/hard "pillow", which looked like it was an elongated "O" shape cut out of some thick "egg carton" bed foam.MY THOUGHTS:The size was ok, even though I would have liked a pillow-sized pillow. I would have also liked it to be softer, both cushion-wise and texture-wise. It did not feel good against my skin, and seemed to attract a lot of my cat's fur/dust/lint, so I cut up an old tank top and covered the "pillow" with it. (I would call it an ear cushion rather than an ear pillow.) After a few nights, I decided that the edges by my ear were too hard, so I cut off a C shape on the side where my cheek/jaw would rest. (See photos.) My regular scissors did not work in cutting the foam, so I had to used a cuticle scissors and cut off tiny pieces at a time, leaving a mess behind. I use this cushion nightly now and it has served it's purpose in letting my ear remain uncrushed during sleep. My ear is finally on it's way to being healed.CONCLUSION:It's a nice starting point, or base structure, in creating a DIY ear cushion. I would not recommend using it as it is. The ear hole could have been slightly larger. I also think it's over-priced for what it is.

It works!
I call it my ear pillow. About 4 months ago I developed a dermatitis of the cartilage in my left ear. Very annoying. I tried not sleeping on my left side, but that’s the side I sleep on so that didn’t work. Finally I ordered this. Voilá. This keeps the pressure off my ear, and the dermatitis has not come back.

Must Be Sized For An Elephant
This is extremely oversized unless you're literally an elephant. It would be more effective to buy a cheap eggshell mattress and cut one out for yourself. You'd even have enough left over to start your own small business. If you are using it exclusively as your sole pillow rather than just to protect your ear when using your regular pillow, it is too small and hard. Either way you use it, it is not sized well.

I searched high and low...
This product has helped my ear cartilage infection and I am very pleased.

Waste of money!
Horrible product. First of all, if you are going to try this, make it yourself for a third of the price. Second, use softer foam. I even cut this in half so hole was closer to pillow & it still felt like laying on a brick. It moved all the pressure from my ear to my jaw.

I recommend this pillow
I bought this pillow because I have CNH and can't sleep on the side with the problem. This pillow definitely did the trick. I'm sleeping just fine now. It hurt my neck a bit at first, but that got better after a couple of weeks. I recommend this for others who suffer with this very painful condition.
