The Stair Barrier - Wall-to-Banister Basic Baby/Pet Gate 43-52 Inch WBW-B-KHAKI-0119

Sturdy, easy to install baby gate with a few flaws. Our stairs are 48" from wall to central bannister post, so I order the large size. Unfortunately from the wall to the snap edge of the fabric is 52" so a couple of inches of fabric has to be wrapped around the post however the straps are both attached at the edge of the fabric so the only way to prevent the fabric from pulling loose and rotating around your post is to make them extra extra tight on your post. However there is no padding or fabric on the straps and latches to prevent them from scratching. Additionally you have to wrap and unwrap the post, unlatch and relatch the three snaps every time you use your stairs. It's a real struggle when you're carrying laundry or a toddler. I improvised: put pool noodle padding under the straps and buckles, drilled a hole through a "spacer plate" which when stacked on top of the other spacer has enough room for a zip tie which makes a very servicable latch that you can do single handed. Some neoprene or other padding under the latch would really be appreciated.
