2 Aircraft Model Kits - P-51 Mustang and Vought F4U-1D Corsair (Japan Import)

I am a long time modeler, over 50 years now. Tamiya makes the very best kits available. I buy Tamiya exclusively now, as experience has taught me to want only the very best. The two aircraft models I am rating in this review, I have not built yet. In all, I bought five aircraft models at the same time and have not gotten to these particular two yet. But I have examined the contents of both kits and am very pleased at the detail and extensiveness of each. As I have been in the past, I am extremely happy with Tamiya and their model kits. I enjoy making these challenging and extremely detailed kits.

These are both excellent models. They go together easy. Recommend at minimum plastic snips and Tamiya thin glue. For P-51, I recommend buying a can of silver/aluminum spray paint, and Navy blue spray paint for the F-4.The models themselves are fairly simple to assemble, but most of your time will be in adding the paint detailing and decals.One note on the decals: they are fairly thick water transfer decals. Which is great because you won't tear them, but they tend not to fit perfectly on curved sections and small detailed areas. So expect to fiddle with these decals a little to get everything looking perfect.

Fit was pretty lame.

I should have known these would be weekend models for the price. I don’t know if I would buy again due to lack of detail etc but for a entry level modeler they would be great starter kits.
