Q: Will this break up floor tile?

Sh..sh..sh...the fubars got it. Studs, tubs, tile, wall, slab everything in a house can be removed by jaw, pry, or hammer. I still giggle a little and grin when i get the chance to get it out. Gonna have two more on the crew soon. They just had to have their own. I wouldnt lend them mine anymore.

Q: Would this be a good buy/use for 1st responders (not fireman as they have tools) to break down a residential and business door in an emergency?

This is more of a demolition tool rather than a entry tool. While it is not the most ideal tool for entry, however I do think it is sufficient for breaking into low security residential homes. If you want something better for breaking into a house, get yourself a halligan bar and a flat head axe. Be aware that to use the tools to their fullest potentials, you will need a partner to use the axe to strike the the halligan.

Q: what material is this made of?

Forged steel, very heavy solid build. Rubber grips for comfort over the metal. Demo'ed several walls in no time w/ this bar highly recommended. Q: Would this tool work for removing nailed down 3/4" particle board over 1/2" plywood. I need to remove it to install hardwood flooring. Thx

According to the ad for this tool (Stanley 55-120), the weight is 8.5 pounds. Maybe the HONEY BADGER HB40 Demolition Fork - 40 inch Wrecking Pry Bar would be a better tool for what you are doing.
