Curiosity and Method: Ten Years of Cabinet Magazin

This book itself, and its content, are perfect, but I received it in a damaged state. The hooks of the book are jammed and bent with scratches. The package was ripped open, the plastic seal on the book torn. As this edition is out of print and nowhere to be found further, I decided to keep it. Having paid 30 euros for postage and packing, I find it outrageous that it was delivered in such a poor state. To be honest, I would not mind getting a refund but am probably too late.

This book is an absolute joy, a continuous inspiration, filled with well-written articles on slightly bizarre but compelling topics like schizophrenia, chromotherapy, doubles, child poets, goats on acid, and people addicted to snorting rust. It is filled with amazing photos, art reproductions, and photographs of old technology, like the Soyer stove and massive beaver dams, which accentuate the text in a well-balanced manner. It answers questions like, 'What would Kennedy have said in public if Aldrin and Armstrong had died?' and 'Does the olfactory bulb of the brain continue growing during human life or not?' I'll tell you what, if it had a few articles on the history of Golden Age comics, some illustrations of Paul Laffoley or perhaps an history of Wilhelm Reich it would be THE PERFECT BOOK. As it is, I give it an A+, and I'm a critical guy. It is a huge book physically, and on one hand if feels great to hold a giant, fat book on my lap, reminding me in a positive way of shuffling through the World Books at home when I was a kid. But, on the other hand, it is almost too big and perhaps a bit too heavy. Plus, it definitely does NOT fit on the back of the toilet.

I've always enjoyed cabinet magazine the few times I've picked it up, and this compilation does not disappoint. I'm only a few articles in and the writing and information shared is completely absorbing. This book is a must for someone who has an interest in the world and the dissemination of its information.

Profoundly interesting, will sate the deepest curiosity. Absolutely outstanding work.

This book is a total joy. The construction and design is kind of shocking, it's solid, simple and innovative. The contents reflect the design, solid, simple and brilliant. My wife who is an elementary school teacher brought it into her classroom, the kids love it! There's something important about this book that even kids see.
