Want to know how much you're saving?
The bits are great, typical Freud quality thats hype actually aligns with the actual performance. I went through the trouble of pricing all these bits out individually and it came out to about $320. The one caveat being that some of these exact bits do not seem to be available anymore individually, Freud now only sells the quadra-cut versions of a few of them. Same cutting profiles, just a different blade setup on the quadra-cut versions. Conservatively, it's about $100 dollars less to buy this set over the individual bits by themselves. This is not taking into account the beautiful case they come in. Frankly, I'm amazed at how solid and well-build it is. The "issue" with bits fitting too tightly and being hard to remove has been addressed elsewhere, along with it's fixes, so I won't go through all that again. This is an issue you should be glad to have, otherwise these reviews would be repleat with sob stories of people receiving loose and damaged bits. I would honestly pay $50-$60 just for the case. I may try and reverse-engineer it to make one for all my one-off bits. The case has keyholes in the back for hanging, so it was designed and built to display and last. The case and bits are quite heavy (maybe 8-9 lbs?), Amazon put virtually no padding in the box with this set and there isn't a dent or flaw anywhere. My only complaint, is that this set includes no literature. Why is that important? Well, the max rpm to run these bits at, seems to be marked nowhere. It's 2021, this seems an absurd oversight since.....you know...lawsuits. If you bought a fixed speed router and this set, one might assume you can just throw these bits in anything and go. You can look them up individually, which I will. Not a deal-breaker and still a great value for a great set, just hard to imagine why they couldn't include a folded up paper insert with max rpm for each bit. Better yet, they could have put it on the case on the description of each bit. If you weren't interested in this set, I doubt you'd be reading this right now. Since you are reading it, just go ahead and hit that "add to cart" button already. You can look up the speeds and your upper body is begging for some sanding relief from using el-cheapo router bits. You've earned it, treat yourself.

Very sharp and stable.
I really like this set of bits. As many reviews have said, they are very difficult to remove from the case. Removing them and using a 1/2 bit to increase the size of the hole does help, but they are still very stiff to remove. I push them into the case as little as possible. I think if you used the metric bit closest to 1/2 inch, you would have better luck. Unfortunately I don't have one to try. Using the bits are a joy, however. I haven't used them a lot yet, but they cut through everything like a hot knife through butter. These are easily the sharpest bits I've used including bits from Whiteside, Yonico, and Ryobi (they were my first set). I don't have any experience regarding how long they hold their sharp edge, but they're terrific brand new. Also, the price of these is a great deal. At about $16/bit for this quality, it's hard to beat.

Great bits. Good box. Good price.
Not made clear from newer reviews but the plastic storage inside the old box has been replaced with swiveling wood block shelves and sturdy plastic grommets now hold the shanks in place. This will prevent slippage in transit and my bits arrived in perfect shape. Inside the box was a rather large dessicant packet and the bits showed little or no rust. Six bits had some rust at the tail end of the shank, but that's all. The box itself isn't the highest of quality but will work and is better then shrinkwrap on card which is how some other high-priced sets arrive. I ordered my set from Amazon seller RouterBitWorld and upon arrival I found a purchase order that showed RouterBitWorld had placed the order directly from Freud America of N.C. One can assume it's relatively new and thankfully never got the chance to sit and rust in a retailers warehouse. The accompanying mini-poster is a nice addition and the mini-cd is also decent, but you're going to need a computer to play the video clips within. The disc shows Quicktime 6 requirement to play... Quicktime 6 came out in 2002, so we're seeing some old material here. I don't think it would kill Freud to reauthor this disc to a full-size DVD for easier access to the information. Anyway that's a minor point and not worth a mark down. In the end the bits are what matter and they are fantastic and well made. After my thorough research they were the best starter set for the money and quality. You can go cheaper and get more quantity, lower quality or the opposite and pay more for fewer bits. For me this 13-piece set was the sweet spot and the more expensive bits I couldn't justify for a hobby and I'm really not sure realistically how much better they can get.

Best router bits on the market
These Freud router bits are awesome, they cut smoothly and fast. I don’t understand the negative reviews about the quality of the box, it’s absolutely top notch. Some say the bits are hard to remove and they are at first all you have to do is take each bit and clean the shank then coat shaft lightly with Vaseline. Some guy said the bits chipped, well if you chipped a bit then your either running at the wrong speed, yes it makes a big difference, or your equipment is out of true. I have bits in my shop that cost as much as this set does and they don’t compare. If you don’t know what leaver A does, then leaver B, go to HarborFreight and buy a set there, because you don’t know how to use this product. I haven’t seen cry babies whine about nonsense like some of the reviews on this product. If you don’t like them send them to me, I’ll show you how to use them. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THESE BITS! 100%

HOW TO REMOVE BITS AND FIX BOX - (It's Easy!)
Freud bits are awesome. This set is a steal, and I suspect the price is lower due to the problems with the box. So, do what I did - order the set and fix it all in less than 10 minutes! Here's how: First, get a leather glove to remove the bits. Grab the bit with the glove, and wiggle it in a circle as you pull out. It's snug, but this works well, and you won't damage the bits or your fingers. For bits with an "overhang", you can start the process by prying upward with some needle nose plyers first, before pulling out with a glove. After all bits are out, take a 1/2" drill bit and mount it in your cordless drill. Place the drill bit into each whole, and drill while moving it in a circle - applying gentle pressure to the outside edges in a circular motion. It doesn't take much effort at all. Then, shop vac out the box to get the rubber bits out. I did the whole process in less than 10 minutes, and now the bits are snug AND easy to remove with your fingers.

Great set!
I use many router bits in my shop, Freud has always been a favorite. Their bits last so much longer than the Chinese knockoffs. I use a lot of round over and chamfer bits on pieces coming off my CNC, Freud bits leave a nice smooth finish. This set offers a great variety at a price more than competitive with inferior quality Chinese made bits. I also use their Industrial blades on my table and mitre saws, I'm very pleased with their products.

It's Freud so you know it is good - bits are great but extremely tight in the box
Fantastic set of bits. They cut clean and accurately and are very well made. The case is attractive and solid but the bits are unbelievably tight. I had to put on leather gloves and use a small lever to remove them the first time. Well, two still have yet to come out. I put them back in less deeply and I can now remove them. This is great for security and shipping but, as others have said, it is a big frustration. The bits fit into rubber sleeves which have a space between their edge and the wood so they would likely tear out if you drilled them. I have not yet found a good solution for the snug fit but other than that the bits are great, the case is attractive and well built, and these are a terrific addition to my tool set.
