Q: Does it work with Slate roof tile ?

Doubtful. You need to slide one side of the clip under the shingle and need a surface that has sufficient friction to hold in place. I would worry that slate will be too thick and will not provide the surface to hold the clips in place.

Q: Will these grip onto a metal roof?

Q: How do you know what size to get?

I ordered the only size that was shown. They worked great. Just like the pic shows.

Q: what kind of clips are used or offered for a metal roof with no gutters ?

It depends on the exact type of metal roof you have. If you have a standing seam roof, you should use an S5 roof clamp with an attached SR-S5 clip. We sell both on Amazon. If you have a corrugated metal roof, you may be able to buy a tradition nail on roof clip and use adhesive to bond them to the roof. You can always call us to ask questions at 877-387-4218.
