Yes, that is just the tip that will fit anything.

Q: Will it fit a 2006 chevy Silverado 1500?!?

It will fit if exhaust pipe is 2.5" O.D. as tip is 2.5" I.D. to fit over exhaust pipe then be tightened down, there is some room to expand the tip to increase the I.D. but not much. Good luck.

Q: Does it improve sound ?

I installed it on my Diesel Mercedes Motor home, sounds the same just added a better look to the exhaust tip

Q: How far will this slide up over the 2.5 inch pipe? Just trying to forecast whether I will need to trim.

You can slide it anywheres you want, there is nothing limiting how far you can slide it up your pipe. The tip on my truck is about 5 inches in after the clamp.
