Great Bonding Before Bedtime
A friend of mine owned this book and read it to his kids every night before bedtime. My wife and I are finally pregnant so I bought the book to read it to her belly every night and plan to continue after the baby is born. The stories are unique and come from all over the world. I have read some reviews about the limited illustrations but agrie that this book is intended to inspire the minds of children with short fun stories that teach life lessons. The stories are easy reads and offer great opportunities to bond before bedtime!

Maybe for older kids...
I liked this book. I have 2 children under 4 and for them it might not have been the ideal choice. It has a variety of common bedtime stories, like little red riding hood, puss in boots, and goldilocks and others that are not as well known. A few complaints about this book are that (1) I wish there were more pictures and that they were in color (2) the stories that are adapted from Grimm's fairy tales are a little too graphic for my 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old. For instance, in Little Red Riding Hood - the hunter shoots the wolf with his gun, cuts open his stomach, fills it with rocks - the wolf stumbles off the bed and falls to the floor and dies a painful death (this goes on for about half a page). Is it just me or could there be a slightly more toned down version of that?? I know that's how the original Grimm's fairy tales are written, but it just doesnt seem age appropriate even for kids that are a little older (3) Some of the lesser known stories that are adapted from folktales don't seem to interest my son - but that could just be that he doesnt recognize the characters or the references (Persimmons? Can't we just say it was Apples??) But really, that's something that I think is just specific to his age. As he gets older, I'm sure it will be easier for him to imagine

Kids and parents love it. Nice bedtime story book.
My toddler LOVES this book. I read one story per night... Nice pictures (not overwhelming).Pros only:+ Main focus is text and stories.+ You get to discover some stories from all other the world and famous ones too.+ One story read out loud is in average 10 minutes.+ Easy wording yet some advanced vocabulary too (to learn new not so common words.. it's great)+ Nice looking book. Sturdy. Feel like a book from the 70s but is new :)Very nice.. Will buy the other books from the collection.

More of a Classical Book with Few Pictures
These are the more classic versions with minimal black and white pictures. The children (2 and 3) do enjoy them. The lack of pictures makes for a easier read at ed time and encourages more imagination.

O.K. for the Price
As another individual stated, it's disappointing that this book does not have pictures. However, the stories are concise and make for a quick read when time is limited.

great stories
This is a great addition to any child's book collection, with classic stories that kids and adults enjoy. My son and I have enjoyed many bedtimes with this book and have loved every second of the time together. A must have for anyone that wants to pass down the traditional stories to their children

My old favorites are my children's new favorites.
Many of the stories in this book are stories my mom shared with me when I was young. My kids are all very interested in reading just as much as I am and they fell in love with this book the first time we read it together. Now they want to read it every night.
