We and the birds love these!
We have bluebirds in one now and chickadees in the other. A perfect size for our feathered friends. The quality is not top scale, but not bad for the price. We will see how they weather the years. A great project for kids too.

Nice blue bird house
It does not smell like cedar but I hope it is. Nice house for the money. There is no drilled holes in the back, but that makes it so you can attach it any way you want.

Three Ready to Move-in Furnished Bird Houses!
I just installed three of these within a forested area, fully furnished, ready to move-in, with straw beds. Stashed a little extra straw outside atop the units, between the tree and house in case it gets a little chilly at night. Two fresh coats of Sherwin Wiliams waterbased decking stain, should ensure your feathers remain warm, dry and cozy! This is your de facto good all natural material bird house. Some short-comings:1) No instructions, but easily learned, especially when assembling multiple bird houses.2) Bottom screen is cut extremely short of the width/depth of the bottom of the bird house. To fix, buy your own quart inch galvanized/stainless hardware cloth, and cut to proper width/depth. Workaround, can also squish the sides of the existing mesh, canting the corners into the grooves. From pictures, looks like the original bird house design was more narrow, while subsequent models are wider, more depth; hence the screen is likely overstock from older models.3) No sealant either provided, nor recommended. I'm thinking, a clear translucent water based decking stain on the exterior and a shellac (or same water based decking stain) on the inside. Although cedar is supposedly long lasting, probably best applying an exterior (water based) coating for weather protection and interior sealant for repelling moisture/mildew.4) Not really depicted, all four sides should like sit flush with the ground/bottom, providing a slight quart inch gap at the top of the front board and roof. Gap is likely for controlling moisture.5) The assembled unit can be mounted using a ~12 inch drill bit extension with additional decking screws, very loosely attached to a tree or preferably 4x4 post or wall. I opted using ~3.5 inch decking screws, one at the top exterior and one inside on the bottom, leaving ~1 inch for tree growth. The screw at the top on the exterior face will readily show whether the clearance from tree growth has been exceeded. Then inserted the screen atop the excess of the interior bottom, providing more support for the screen.
