Waitin' For The Sun To Shine

This is one of those important records that draws on the past and takes a big step forward. This is Ricky Skaggs first major "country" record. Before this, his solo material was almost exclusively bluegrass. Being in Emmylou Harris' band was his stepping stone into electric country. On this album he continues the trend, that Emmylou was a major part of, of drawing on older artists from the earlier years of country. In 1980, when this album was released, popular country music was very slick and pop-oriented. Ricky went in the other direction and, for his song selection, he drew on older bluegrass and country performers like the Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs, Webb Pierce, Merle Travis, etc.This record helped move country in a back-to-basics direction (even though it's periodically gotten junky again over the years). The set also comes with a disc containing an interesting interview with Ricky. It's a shame that the score has been drawn down by technical complaints rather than ratings based on the music itself

Great melodies, great vocals, great guitar, great steel guitar, great sound quality, great everything. Might just be the perfect country album.

I bought this CD because the song I wanted was not available in MP3. I bought it for If That's the Way You Feel and I love it. There are song other good songs on the CD, but Ricky's version of that song is the best. I only gave it a four because only one song made it to my ipod.

The music itself is great, Ricky Skaggs is a great performer! My problem with this cd is I buy music to load to my itunes library and then load it to my iPod. This cd is not recognized by my computer so I cannot load it into itunes and iPod. I consider my purchase of this cd as a waste of money. I'm sorry I bought it.

If you love good old country music. This is a great album!! Love it.

I love the title song to this CD but found the rest to be kind of boring. Nothing special about any of the music found here.

l am unsure as to how to use this. It won’t play in my CD player. How does it work? I mistakenly ordered what I thought was a cd. What do I do now?
