Assez bien

Made the switch from Hahnemuhle to Permajet
When I switched from the HP9180 to the Epson 3880, I also decided to switch media brands. I'd been using Hahnemuhle PhotoRag Pearl and Hahnemuhle Glossy Fine Art but there'd always been a slight residue on the prints so that if you were to touch the print within the first 24 hours after printing, you'd get some offset on your fingers. After buying a sample pack of the Permajet papers (Oyster and Ultra Pearl) I was impressed by the colour accuracy straight out of the box with the Epson 3880 and moreso when I realised that I wasn't getting any ink on my fingers, so I tried the paper with the HP9180 and it was the same - no smudging or transference. Even immediately after the print has come out of the printer, it's dry to the touch and can be rolled up to be shipped out with no fear of losing any of the image in the rolling process. In terms of image quality, it's much better than expected. I hadn't used Permajet until that point and always swore by Hahnemuhle but, since trying out the Permajet brand, I've not gone back to Hahnemuhle and have recently started using the Permajet A2 papers. Very highly recommended.

Brillant printing paper!
I bought a new photo printer last year when its predecessor died - RIP! It prints up to A3+ so I bought this paper shortly afterwards, but didn't use any until recently. An A3+ border-less print reproduced perfectly. Trouble is, A3+ is approximately 19" x 13" in old money. It's not a normal photo print size, so frames for it are not easy to find. The only ones I did find were expensive, presumably because so few are made. The best solution I found was to print 16" x 12" on the A3+ paper, leaving a border. 16" x 12" is a regular photo print size. I was able to find 20" x 16" frames complete with a 16" x 12" card overlay. This makes it easy to mount the photo behind the card - sticking it on with a couple of sticky paper labels. These frames cost less than a quarter the price of a 19" x 13". Look good too!
