This is a great little arcade/cart style racer. There aren't any weapons but plenty of drifting and boosts. The tracks are all what you would expect from a hot wheels track with loops and twists and turns. There's a pretty decent selection of cars and tracks in the base game but be aware the desire to purchase additional tracks and cars will be very strong. The two areas the game really shines at are:#1 SplitScreen! It's only two player but that's better than most games out there, especially racers. 4 player split screen would improve the game even more.#2 Track Editor! The track editor is terrific. I've probably spent just as much time building tracks as I have spent racing. It's really well done and makes it as easy as it is to build hot wheel tracks in real life.

This is not a simulation racer. It's not a battle racer like Crash Nitro Kart or Mario Kart either. It's an arcade racer where you have a boost that recharges when you drift or run over special pad or over time. So it's looser physics, but you still have to out drive your opponents, not shoot them with power ups to pass them. It's skill based. If that sounds like your kind of game and if you grew up like I did playing with Hot Wheels and their tracks, you'll probably love this. Graphically its beautiful and the race tracks and cars look exactly like they did in your mind as you fly around them at blinding speeds like you imagined doing as a kid. As a long time fan of the toys, this is the game I'd hoped it would be. It's so good, I bought the season pass already, and it's not even out yet.The unlocking system for the cars is the only hang up that I didn't like. Cars are unlocked by buying randomized boxes or a limited number of cars that come up for sale and randomize and swap out every 4 hrs of play time, not real time, so you have to actually have the game running for 4 hrs before the limited time cars change. None of these are purchasable with REAL money tho, only with points you get for winning races, which is good, but the system seems set up to stretch out how long it's gonna take you to unlock all the cars or at least the ones you want. Not a deal breaker, but a caveat.
