This book is a joy to read.. A tale from the days when beloved grandmother read to her grandchildren. This tale does not get old. It's basic message is a message for all ages: Greed is not good, is detrimental to those who don't get it.. I have bought this book and gifted it to libraries and to family and friends (ages 5 and up), both kids and adults. It's a must have. The illustrations perfectly match the poetic narrative.

This is a charming tale, beautifully illustrated, that takes the reader through daily life of old Armenia as it reveals its lesson. We come across a baker, a shepherd, a wedding party, a minstrel - and one greedy sparrow. This book quickly became my neice's favorite. A beautiful book.

i am seven years old. it made a lot of sense to me. it was funny because the sparrow always got something more in return for what it gave. I liked the illustrations.
