not so happy
I was really looking forward to using this scanner as I have quite a few negatives from long ago that I would like to digitize. I spent the afternoon trying to load some of these negatives and not only was it very time consuming (I knew it would take a while) it was very sporadic in reading my negatives. I spent more time getting out of the program, reloading the program, reentering the negatives...a waste of time that was very frustrating. I am planning on returning. I wish I could say it was a good product, but I cant. :(

OK but a little flimsy
Works well but a little flimsy and easily broken. The retaining spring inside mine came loose and made it unusable. It is obviously non-serviceable so I had to scrap it.

Good gadget!
This is a very good gadget for the price. I have had lots of fun scanning and sharing images from 50-year-old slides. The scanned images are not as sharp as the images I get when I view the slides using a simple hand-held viewer, but they are still pretty good. Our computer is quite old and runs Windows XP Home Edition. Installation of the software was simple and quick and the scanner itself was very easy to use. I'm glad I bought it.

Great for the price!
I remember when these cost over $1000 so when I saw one for $38.99, and free shipping, I thought I'd give it a shot knowing I could return it if it didn't work. I'm still running Windows XP Pro on all my computers and thought I might have a problem on my main computer as I have a USB flat bed scanner and web cam installed. Sure enough, it didn't play well at all. Loaded it onto another computer with no capture devices installed and it worked fine with negative and slides. The included software is intuitive and the manual is adequate. There are basic editing controls, which I haven't had time to explore fully, but for best results I believe I'd use this at its highest resolution for capture and another program for final tweaking. It really depends on the quality you want in your final image. If you have photos and a decent flat bed scanner, you don't need this. If all you have are negatives and slides, this is the way to go considering the price of turning negatives and slides into photos.

FS1000 Scanner
This product comes up short in many ways. The software loaded up OK, but the instructions are incompleat and fuzzy. Do'nt expect to do more than a few dozen coppies in a sitting. After 10 coppies you must do a save, then start all over again. If you are like me I have hundreds of negatives to copy. With this unit it will take me months to complete the project.I found it obserd that there is no web site or help line phone number, the software locks up and all I can do is shut down and re-start.Joe B. Disappointed
Doesn't work with Windows 10, doesn't work with Mac OSX, might as well be non-existent at this point in time. Will be returning and purchasing a more adequate product.

Slide Scanner
This product for the price is ok but wow it takes along time....i would suggest that if you buy this item you should get at least 3 or 4 more trays to put slides in so that you can have someone load one when you are scanning one in

SVP FS1000 FILM SCANNER
Performs very well. Certainly meets my needs and is easy to use. A great way to "resurrect" old slides and update. Accompanying photo program adds yet a few more editing options and print quality is very good. Compact, it occupies a permanent location on my computer desk.
