Excellent insight into the rich spirituality of his life.

Great to be able to just pick up the book and open it anywhere to find words of wisdom relevant to the moment.

I don't think I ever got this book

as a St Francis lover, I checked this book out from the library before deciding to purchase.On page 47 she give the quote: 'Preach the Gospel and When Necessary Use Words,' WHICH ALL SCHOLARS AGREE DID NOT COME FROM HIM, and then she flippantly says "or at least this is what legend has him say....'whatever the exact quote may have been....'WHAT!? I will not touch another copy-and-paste-from-the-internet 'fluff' Mirabai Starr book.

A lovely book...inspiring

This modest looking little book is overflowing with riches of wisdom, humility, grace and beauty. The author has selected some phenomenal and little known sources to include, like Hail Queen Wisdom (pgs 56-57) -- interspersing these gems with her own wise and profound reflections, which are presented with great humility, despite her impressive accomplishments. As read on her website: "Her emphasis has always been on making connections between the perennial teachings found at the heart of all the world’s spiritual paths, in an effort to promote peace and justice." And she does this job brilliantly. Also included are gorgeous black & white art illustrations from various artists. I have read and heard many academic and other sources on Francis of Assisi -- this unassuming little gem of a volume surpasses most of those.

This book gave me the insight I was looking for.

I admire St. Frances. But I find the need to suffer is extreme. And may not be required in order to be holy..
