Big British Railway Journeys Puzzle Book: Travel across the country in over 100 mind-boggling puzzles

Bought for my brother who has train-spotted in the UK and further afield for well over six decades as a Christmas 'stocking filler'. Met with his approval!

Very good puzzle book.

Bought this as a gift for a railway enthusiast. He is very pleased with it.

I am not an avid puzzle-solver by any means, and I am still working my way through the book, but I have found the puzzles vary from too easy to quite difficult, mostly in the first category so far. I am not quite sure what level the book is aimed at.As another reviewer has commented, there is a lot of unused space on many pages, but that does give you some scribble-room for the anagrams and suchlike.The answers are given at the back of the book, but it doesn’t give you much confidence in them when the ‘solution’ to at least one easy question is plainly wrong. (The ‘solution’ to Question 6 in section 1 asserts that a train travelling at 10 mph takes 150 minutes to cover 15 miles, and a train travelling at 15mph takes 225 minutes to cover 15 miles! Unless my brain has gone completely, surely these times should be 90 minutes and 60 minutes.)No doubt the puzzles will keep me entertained for an odd spare few minutes here and there, although I will be skipping the ones which are too easy.

This is a very good idea; a book of interesting puzzles related to railways. These can be done anywhere at any time, too, not just on a train journey.However, what lets it down is the number of pages with just one item on them, the item in each case being right at the top of those pages. The result is a book with a huge amount of unused white space in it. You look through it thinking that you have been rather short-changed. There Is no need for this, and the authors/publisher between them could have done a lot better.
