Works for the HP 8300 Elite CMT!
Was so happy to find this. With some slight modifications, it works great to swap in a standard power supply in my HP 8300! I got the "515-no power supply fan detected" error but was able to get around it without having to hit F1 at boot following the steps below. Here's what I had to do:1. Repin the flat white connector on this cable. The cable is designed for another PC but it'll work for the HP 8300! You can use a pin/knife/paperclip to poke the prongs on the side so they slide out. See the picture attached, but basically reverse the pins from how they come (besides the red, more on that later). There was a small "1" on one side of the connector signifying pin #1, but if you're looking at it the same way as in the picture, 1 is on the left. So if you're looking at the flat white connector as in my picture with the silver prong side facing you, pins should be as follows: 1-black wire, 2-blank (no wire), 3-yellow, 4-green, 5-red. Some say to put the red in pin #2, but then you'll get the "no power supply fan detected" error. It'll work fine that way but you'll have to press F1 to boot.2. To avoid the fan error and not have to press F1 to boot: Cut the red wire going to pin #5 in the above step near the 24-pin black ATX connector. Connect this to the TAC wire on your chassis/case fan. On mine it was the gray wire on the fan, pin #3. Should be pin #3 on all 4 wire fans but the color may vary. I used the smallest blue quick-splice adapter from this kitĀ Ginsco 67pcs 24-10 AWG Quick Splice Solderless Wire and T-Tap Electrical Connector Assortment Kit with CaseĀ I think the connector is made for 22 AWG wire so I slightly squeezed the two prongs together tighter so it connected sturdily on the thin fan wire (I still had to cut the shielding on the wire a little for better connectivity).I then connected the spade connector that came in the quick-splice kit to the red wire that leads to pin #5.After I did this, no fan error and it works great!!

Hp elite 8300 minitower
In the end it worked on my HP elite 8300 minitower, though this plug isn't specifically for the elite 8300 minitower. Had to install one plug upside down and shifted 2 pins over, but it works!!! When plugged in "correctly" the computer beeps and flashes an angry red light at me.

It works with HP 8300! But not out of the bag....
Contrary to the prior wiring diagrams mentioned here for an 8300 CMT (convertible minitower) in reviews, I had to use the wiring diagram shown in the attached picture to make this work. Otherwise, I got 4 beeps when powering up the PC. The manufacturer must have changed the plug wiring since those reviews were posted. Make sure you remember to plug in your CPU power plug before doing your rewiring or you will get the 4 beeps from that as well. As for the 515 PSU fan not detected error code, I tried all four different configurations mentioned in earlier reviews to eliminate it. None worked for me. I tried the following:1) Splicing the grey wire (Position #3 on 4-pin fan connector) to the red wire (Position #5 on 6-pin HP connector).2) Splicing the grey wire (Position #3 on 4-pin fan connector) to the yellow wire (Position #2 on 6-pin HP connector).3) Splicing the blue wire (Position #2 on 4-pin fan connector) to the red wire (Position #5 on 6-pin HP connector).4) Splicing the blue wire (Position #2 on 4-pin fan connector) to the yellow wire (Position #2 on 6-pin HP connector).None of them stopped the 515 error code. Frustrating, but at least the PC boots up fine with a power supply capable of powering a newer video card. If anyone knows of another way to do it, given my picture, that would help me kill that error code off....please comment. I'll update this review and add the necessary changes to make it work.I hate HP.....

Repin for hp 8300 and it works perfectly
I am using this in an hp elite 8300 with a 500w power supply and an amd hd7850. Once i recieved it i repinned it just as everyone else (reverse the order) has said and it works perfeclty minus the fan boot issue for the missing rpm data. I might see if i can high jack an rpm signal cable from another fan as another reviewer mentioned but its not that big of a deal. If i have any issues i will update or comment on this review. So far though this has worked with very little effort and brings to life a strong machine.

Tested. Works on HP 8000, 8100, 8200, 8300, 800 G1.
Perfect. Works with the HP Elite 8000, 8100, 8200, 8300 and HP 800 G1. You do need to repin the 6 pin white connector. You take a needle/pin and poke the holes until you hear a click and slide the wires right out. Easy. Basically you reverse the order. Green becomes black, yellow becomes red, red becomes yellow, black becomes green. I've tested on this configuration on the 8300 and 800 G1 TWR systems.. The 8000 8100 and 8200 work too based on videos I've seen.

Perfect for Aftermarket PSU to HP mobo bATX
Glad I purchased this cable. I got in over my head after deciding to build my son a "gaming" rig for Christmas. I've never even cracked a computer open before much less knew the differences of proprietary business class motherboards. I just bought a gaming case and a HP Elite quad i5-2500. I quickly learned that I messed up and that these were incompatible. Anyhow, with elbow grease, a multimeter and an obsessive determination; it turned out very nice and is great for a ten year old. This cable allowed a connection to an ATX 650w PSU, but be careful, on the flat 6 pin two of the wires were opposite from factory. Please use your stock PSU and find the voltage of each pin before installing. Other than that it was a straight hookup with the mobo taking one more four pin(IIRC) from the PSU for secondary power. Great product for repurposing all these biz class to home rigs
