WORKS FINE AFTER THREE YEARS OF SALT WATER AND SAND SUBMERSION!!!
This lock has been on the beach, locking a kayak in front of my house for THREE YEARS. On many occasions, the tide has come up so far that the lock has been fully submerged in salt water. Ordinary padlocks get crusted shut very quickly. This morning, after having not touched the lock in about six months, it was totally buried in beach sand. I can't imagine a more hostile environment for a lock! Submersion in sand and salt water, both!Even though the cap that covers the keyhole does not feel like a very tight fit, it does keep out most of the sand. And the hasp is so tightly fit that there just isn't much space for sand to get in from the top. When I tried to open the lock this morning, the cap was still in place but I couldn't get the key to go it -- it was just crusted full of silt -- very very fine sand that was dissolved in the salt water and left behind. So I sprayed it with WD40 and pushed the key in and wiggled it little by little, and in less than three minutes the lock popped open! I used more WD40 to clean it out, then washed it in warm soapy water to get more of the sand and hopefully all of the WD40 out of the lock, and blew it out with a compressor.I thought I'd go ahead and replace it at this point, but my gosh the lock still works as good as new! There is ZERO rust, all of the plastic/rubber outer housing is in fine condition, and you can only see moderate signs of corrosion on the brass and some very trivial pitting starting on the visible metal part of the hasp.Just leave this lock "dry" i.e. no WD40 or oil or anything like that, and it will provide many years of service.THIS LOCK IS INCREDIBLE!

Great padlock.
This lock stands up to all weather. Had mine 5 years. Don't lose your key. This is why I am purchasing this lock again. You guessed it he lost the key, not me.

"Pick-proof" locks like Medeco or Mul-T-Lock will set you back a couple ...
The lock is much less beefy than I had expected -- the shackles are thin and the body is small. However, per the product description, the shackles are made from hardened steel and the body is made from brass, so I'm reassured that it offers at least *some* resilience against brute force attacks. The reason I chose an ABUS is ABUS padlocks are supposed to be more pick/rake resistant compared to most other locks, including Master lock. I've watched plenty of YT videos on Master locks being picked open in a few seconds! ABUS locks on the other hand are harder to pick BUT they are NOT pick proof. "Pick-proof" locks like Medeco or Mul-T-Lock will set you back a couple of hundred. In case you're wondering the difference between the yellow and the blue version: the only difference is the shackle of the yellow version is made from hardened steel and the shackle of the blue version is made from stainless steel. The shackle is covered by vinyl and the body is encased in plastic. There is also a cap that covers the keyhole to prevent water seeping into and corroding the tumbler. Overall, it *looks* to be rather weather resistant, but I'm not using it outdoors where it's subjected to the elements, so I can't really comment on how effective the protection against moisture is.Overall, I'm satisfied with this padlock. I only wish both the shackle and body were a bit beefier.

Best Outdoor Lock!
I have a gate lock on an outdoor tall picket fence and have had many locks to rust here over the years. This one has lasted for years, the best yet I have found. I tried several from Master Lock and all rusted within one to two years and were hard to open and close after this. I do highly recommend this one and will continue getting it since it lasts for several years.....

Great lock
Very good lock you can also get blank keys from Amazon. I went to lock smith told me they didn’t have blanks this product was to new. Don’t bother with the company they were no help at all because I didn’t buy from them

No more rusty locks!
After weeks in the Florida sun, humidity, and rain, still no rust! Every other lock that said 'rustproof' lied and got where we were afraid to lock it and it rust and be unable to remove it. Very pleased with this purchase. Pricey but worth it.

Survived a Midwest Winter
I have this lock on an outdoor shed. It made it through a cold, wet winter with no problems. The weather seal on the bottom kept out all of the ice.

Not good if cold and wet outside.
Good lock, unless it gets wet and cold outside. I bought two of these locks to secure my trailer. It snowed and got very cold out. I couldn’t get the locks open, even after using a lock de-icer. I bought them for toughness and outdoor use. Outdoor is fine, unles it’s cold and wet. I’ll be looking for something else.

Sturdy smooth operating mechanism
Appear to be a good sturdy lock with smooth operating mechanism at a reasonable price. I purchased three of these and would purchase them again.Since my last review having purchased three at the time, have since purchased three more for a total of six. Very good locks at a very good price. They were out of stock at the time of my second order but quite soon were able to fill the order. Insert a few drops of lubrication, THREE IN ONE or similar into the key hole slot and shank hole for exceptionally smooth operation. Each lock comes with two keys. Nice little snap on cover which stays in place over key slot and is attached so it don't become lost. I really like the protective durable covering over the shackle.

Great product overall
Amazing lock! Very sturdy and I love the cover on the key hole. I use it outdoors and it really helps keep the ice and snow off of the key hole with the cover. A bit pricey but worth the money.

decent quality
Used this to bearproof a yeti cooler, since I didnt want bears to pick the default M-branded locks and eat my food. These locks did the job wonderfully, even after being dropped in the dirt and mud numerous times on a portage that was rougher than expected.cleaned them off, and they are still working like new, no idea if they'd corrode, but since they are brass they shouldnt...

Smooth and solid.
Very smooth lock. Seems very well build. Will report back if it doesn't hold up but the cap for the key slot and the other weatherproofing seems good quality. So far 5 stars

Good
Long shackle was good for my application of locking up patio furniture with a cable. Seems to be of good quality.
