No, there are no holes for ventilation.

Q: Could someone confirm the dimensions in inches - per what is listed in cm: 6.5" d x 18" w x 11" h? that seems big for a countertop.

The dimensions for the one I have are 6.5" high, 18" wide and 9" deep. I have it next to my sink on the cutting board. It is exactly what I wanted. I bought it in 2013 or 2014. I don't know if it has changed in the intervening years.

Q: Is the color opaque or can you see through the white color?

It is opaque. I have them in black, white, and orange. And only orange is see through.
