Ideal for my old non-smart TV
Our bedroom TV is a relatively old, flat screen wall-mounted TV which is 'not smart'. We use a digital aerial to get freeview channels but wanted a few more options. We are not that tech savvy so I did a little research before purchasing. The only HDMI port on my TV is to the rear so was aware that it would be difficult to plug the Firestick directly in to the TV. However I had a spare HDMI cable (both ends male HDMI connectors) which I plugged in to my TV. I then bought a cheap female HDMI adaptor (small connector with two female HDMI ports) and plugged the cable from my tv in to one of the female ports and the Firestick in to the other. I followed the really easy instructions that came with the Firestick and was able to get it connected to my WiFi and up and running in no time. Setting up the Firestick remote so that it can control the tv (volume etc) was fairly simple. The Firestick enables me to log in to my paid subscription services (Netflix and Prime) but also access free content such as All 4, You Tube, ITV Hub, BBC iPlayer etc. I had not previously been able to access these free or subscription services on the bedroom TV due to it being 'not smart'. The services will usually require you to register for an account but it does not cost for services such as ITV Hub, iPlayer, All 4 etc which are free (Netflix, Prime etc will require a subscription if you want to use them). The picture is really clear and the streaming works fine with my broadband. I can use the Firestick remote with voice control OK, though I tend to work with the buttons out of preference. The only thing that I cannot do using the Firestick remote is switch inputs so I still need to use my original TV remote when I wish to switch back to content from the digital aerial rather than watch content through the HDMI input (Firestick). This is not a problem as original remote still in good order - I have googled this issue and think it is to do with the age and set up of my TV so will not be an issue for some. Really pleased with the purchase and the additional options it provides for my old telly. Apologies for the long winded review - I just felt it might be useful to people like me who didn't really understand what a Firestick could do!

WOW. 2013 Samsung 65" Flagship F8000 Smart TV has had a heart transplant!
So, about 5 years ago I bought the "flagship" 2014 Samsung 65" Smart TV - the F8000 model.Ofcourse you wait till they drop in price don't you.... Anyway, fast forward to now and Amazon Prime stopped working. Then ITV Hub sent a message saying this device will no longer be supported and very quickly my beautiful 65" TV was becoming obsolete in no time at all, and half of its inbuilt apps were useless!!I was virtually on the edge of splashing out £2,400 on the latest 90J 4k OLED Sony model. But I remembered these as my brother used one. What did I have to lose at £40? So located a free HDMI port round the back of the screen and there are a few spare 240V power sockets, so I thought right, let's try it.It promptly arrived the next day and I plugged it in - you can't even see it once its plugged in. It took quite a while to set up and update to be fair. At one point I thought the update was stuck in a loop of doom but it eventually finished updating and once connected to my Wifi away we went!WOW is all I can say. Absolutely incredible piece of kit. My TV has now been given a new lease of life like an old age pensioner with a brand-new ticker and a fresh set of legs!FANTASTIC BUY and the Sony TV can now go to someone else in more need than I :)Everything works brilliantly. Amazon Prime, Netflix, All the catchup channels, IPlayer, ITV Hub, all the subscription channels are there along with numerous other free channels like Freevee with tons of free content. The user interface is brilliant too. Love it!So don't scrap your TV give it a heart transplant. 10/10.

Saved an older TV
We lost our satellite connection in our bedroom after having some building work. Getting a new cable run from the dish would have proved expensive and messy, the alternative was a new smart TV or a Fire stick. At the price I thought I would give the Firestick a go and I was extremely pleased, as it has converted an older TV into a smart TV at a fraction of the cost. It is easy to use, just plug it into the cdmi socket on the TV and switch on, as I already had an Amazon account and Alexa, once I had logged in, it set is self up. Then it is just a case of downloading apps such as BBC IPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 , My5 etc. There are also other streaming Apps which will give access to other channels at a monthly fee. If you have problems downloading directly on the TV, then Apps can also be downloaded and added to the Firestick via your Amazon Account on a laptop or desktop, in theory it should also working a Tablet, but my iPad couldn't find ITV Hub.

Technology eh!?
When I was a kid, having TV in your room meant listening to the sounds from the only TV in the house from the living room downstairs. Later on you could run a tonne of COAX around the place and maybe get a signal.Look, I was born in the 70's and lived in a 4 story house.Let's do a Marty McFly and jump to HEY....the future.....don't get me started on the plot holes! It's a firestick....we ARE in the future! Well done tech guys. TV through magic....or something where my dad doesn't have to climb on the roof to adjust the antenna.

The best stick for TVs.
I tried all sticks available on the market. This is the best. Amazon has put a lot of thoughts and creativity in this product. The integration with the TV is seamless. My Old (nonsmart) TV remote control works perfectly with Amazon stick in addition to the fire stick remote. I've got two remotes now.Itsalso highly customisable. You can get the fire app and turn your phone into a third remote.

Old git friendly
Bought for the in laws, and they still think using the wireless means turning on bbc world service on the bedside alarm clock, despite their lack of technological know how, once I got them logged in they quickly got the hang of it. Runs a bit slow but to them it’s lightning fast in comparison to teletext
