First time clock repairer
I have a Howard Miller schoolhouse clock, probably 40 years old that stopped after a couple of hours each time I tried to keep it running. After viewing several how-to's on YouTube I figured that spending a little $$ on a repair kit was worth a try. I disassembled the clock, removed the movement, cleaned and oiled all the bearing points....This kit comes with all the picks and such necessary to get the crud out, then a tiny amount of oil on the bearings. Now it’s running again.I never tried to fix a clock before, but some experience in mechanical stuff is probably a good thing before you start pulling things apart.

Kit is excellent, but I chickened out
The instructions that came with the kit are impeccable. All items contained in the kit are quality and as described. Further, there is a well-made tutorial video, along with detailed (20 page!) written instructions. Or, if you are too impatient to read the author’s thorough work, there is also a summary document that is a faster read.Sadly though, it turns out that the sophistication behind the method used to secure my clock’s hands, and the method used to secure the clock workings to the carcass, were beyond my mechanical ability to remove. I own a grandfather clock, stamped with “made in Germany”. I could remove the minute hand without issue, which was secured by a nut. But the hour hand was locked in place by some sort of cotter pin and square nut assembly that, try as I might, I could not figure out how to remove. I was afraid I’d end up breaking something.Even though the hour hand could not be removed, I wondered if I could still remove the clock’s workings. I took a look. Rather than simple screws, there are fancy nuts and bolts and a wooden track of some sort that apparently allows the user to slide out both the mechanism and the clock face from the clock’s carcass. I would have to remove the clock’s chime assembly, in order to make room for the clock’s workings to slide out. And, it seems I would have to pivot the entire assembly 90 degrees in order to clear the chime’s mounting wood. While I didn’t want to give up, I simply decided that I was in real risk of damaging the clock with my rudimentary guesses on next steps. I ended up following the instructions to clean and lubricate the clock using the methods described by the seller. Only, I did the cleaning against the rear of the mechanism only (as I couldn’t access the front of the mechanism while it was mounted). And, I performed the cleaning while the mechanism was upright in its cabinet, not laying flat on a work bench. So, I suppose it is possible that the minimal oil I applied, according to the seller’s instructions, would just follow gravity and not stay in the lubrication points as intended. The clock is running and I would like to think the lubrication has helped - it was working prior to my work, only I was winding it more frequently than it did in its younger days.I think the seller did everything possible to enable my success here, and I give highest marks for the purchase.

The kit contains what you need to do the job and the oil is of very high quality.
I decided to try this oil and cleaning kit on a cucu clock that had stopped chiming and playing the music box. I followed the cleaning kit online instructions and after about 4 hours of time, I was able to get the clock working 100% correct again. Saved myself about 350 dollars and a few months of waiting time by doing this myself. I wouldn't try cleaning and oiling a complicated cucu clock though unless you have some technical skills, as there's a lot of mechanical rods and connections that need to be disconnected and reconnected in the correct order. I wouldn't hesitate to do a standard clock though as they would be quite a bit easier.

Very helpful, I wish we had found this sooner.
The kit got my wall clock working. My husband used it on my clock that has worked because it needed cleaning. I had checked around and it would have been over $100 to have someone do it professionally. I had watched a YouTube video that had this in the link of how to clean it. Now it is running for the first time in 10 years. So far, so good; its working well!!

Great product, tad expensive.
The product seems to be quite good, I just think it was a bit expensive for a piece of stuck, small needles and some oil. But it came recommended to me and so I spent the extra money. It has revived two clocks thus far so in a happy fellow.

Excellent Kit for servicing your clock
I have never cleaned and oiled a clock prior to using this kit. I downloaded and read instructions from their website and got to work. It was a straightforward and well described process. I highly recommend this product.

All you need plus difficult find online resouce links
My 45 YO Emperor PL 110 kit M300 chimes came to a stuttering halt over the past year. My Google fu was lacking. This kit not only had the needed tools but pointed me to some very informative web sites. After going through the suggested steps there was no improvement. In the process I learned the clock was supposed to have had a clean and lube every two years and even then the life expectancy was 40-50 years. The quarter hour chime pivots were obviously oval. Figuring I had nothing to lose I ran the mechanism through the very soiled option of my dishwasher, then sprayed it all down with a good soaking of WD40, and after letting it sit overnight, repeated the kit's clean and oil process. Now the clock mostly works, The quarter hour chimes gear seems to have skipped a tooth. Two notes of the quarter hour strike have been taken from the front of one ring and appended to the end of the next. It keeps time perfectly. The mechanics for this model are no longer available. Emperor has drop in replacement for $800.00. At my age and with no one likely to want this for a family heirloom, this purchase was well worth the money.
