Satified Customer
I purchased a new textbook with connect access and the access code is not recognized by the book publisher. However, turns out the publisher was having trouble with codes and that is why it was not recognized. After a flurry of e-mails between me and the publisher and me and amazon, amazon sent me a new book and code....however, the publisher finally realized they were incorrect and also sent me a new code. Anyway, the product is working great now, and it appears as though the publisher has gotten everything straightened out. As for amazon, excellent customer service, I must say. Thanks!

Very nicely done textbook
I got an A in the class! I actually really liked this book, as textbooks go. Every chapter had reviews of experiments that were fundamental to this relatively new field, demonstrating how scientific knowledge is accumulated, and showing a lot about the thought processes of scientists, some unknown to us, but many later became Nobel Prize winners. The text was also very clearly worded, with ample illustrations. If you're buying this book, you probably don't have much choice as it's required for a class, but it might comfort you to know that it sucks quite a bit less than many science texts.

on the cover of this book, it state that this is edition is for international students. Not for the US. It is in English. I don't know if it makes a different or not, so I am holding on to it for now and will ask my professor when class starts. I think this should be something clearly stated when ordering but it was not

Still accurate and just as good! Save money!
I find it hard to write reviews about text books. This one is no exception. The text is informative and accurate. The language and format is easy to understand, and the illustrations do a great job of, well, illustrating key points. I purchased it for a genetics course, and while a newer edition is available, I can say that this edition is still just as accurate. You can save yourself some money by purchasing this edition instead.

Great book for introducing yourself to genetics
Best selling genetics textbook for a reason. This made genetics an easy A for me. It takes the scary out of what many consider a difficult (undergrad) biology course. He leaves a lot of holes (that only an advanced genetics student would notice) but this text is meant for intro type genetics courses (still 4xx/4xxx level) not advanced genetics or human genetics. If you like Brooker's Biology textbook you'll enjoy this. Not sure why one reviewer thought it was poorly written/organized. Are you sure you are referring to his 4th edition? First 3 editions maybe, but not this one.

Ahh, for the love of college
Ahh, the lovely "required" textbook for my class. The book is fantastic and did exactly what it was suppose to, sit on my shelf after only being opened once (out of curiosity, not because my professor actually cared if we read it). The book itself is great though.

Does the job
Good book that describes the basic of genetics. It was very helpful in understanding some key problems in my Genetics class. My only wish, is that they had more sample questions in the text book explain the word problems, since they can be quite confusing at times.

Best textbook I own
This is the e book that will make me buy more e textbooks down the road. You can easily search for terms, how ofteh they come up, how they are relevant to later and prior material, highlight, and share notes with others. The Amazon e book format is great . The book itself does a great job on explaining material with good diagrams as well. Also look at McGraw Hills website for free quizes
