It's not waxed. I don't mean it's very light waxed I mean it's not at all... Making this simply a hat. Seeing as it being waxed was the entire point I purchased this hat that's a problem for me. Sprinkled some water on it in the sink and it just soaked right up into the hat not a single bead... I ordered a $10 wax bar and it took about 5 cycles of rubbing on wax like a bar of soap then melting in into the fabric with a heat gun over and over, its beading water now but I feel like I still need another 5 layers or so until I am at where I thought I would be when this arrived at my door. It's still a nice looking comfortable hat. They need to change the name to faux waxed canvas or something if they aren't going to wax it.

I bought this hat for my husband and he really likes it!

It's a nice looking hat with a good structured front but sadly the material is not at all wax coated. Wax is supposed to repel water droplets, not absorb it.

Supposedly, I've owned this hat before. This one arrived and the waxy finish seemed lighter weight or thinner and the front of the hat was marred with some scratches that don't want to simply buff out. I ordered this hat through my past order history on Amazon; this supposedly was the exact same hat that I had purchased a couple of years ago and lost somewhere. It was my favorite casual hat that looked good with brown boots for a night out. I still have a similar hat with a camo back that was ordered from the same supplier with my other old one and the waxy finish is definitely seems more durable.
