Trimming and Shimming is Needed
Now right off the bat, I was aware that these were tapered stake pockets and that trimming the 2x4 was something I was going to have to do. That's part of the reason I bought these. I thought it would be nice that the 2x4 wouldn't slide through. The easiest way I found to cut all your 2x4's was to angle my miter saw to about 3 [DEG], clamp on a stop block, and cut both sides of the 2x4. This worked out really well and I had all ten pieces cut in about 5 min. The only problem was when I went to insert the stakes into the already mounted stake pockets, they wouldn't slide in. In order to get them in, I had to loosen the carriage bolts slide the stake in, and then tighten the carriage bolts. This was a pain to do and not what I expected out of these. What's the point of the taper in the stake pocket if it is so tight nothing can slide in or out of it. Now for the side gates of my trailer, this was fine. I don't expect to take them off very frequently, if at all. However, for the end gates of the trailer, this was a problem. I need to be able to take them on and off all the time. The easiest way i found to remedy this was by shimming the stake pockets out with some washers. This did the trick and I was able to slide the end gates in and out of the pockets with ease. Overall these are well made, but unless the manufacturer changes the dimensions of this product, you will have to trim and shim to make these things work.

Heavy duty stake pockets, for 1 1/2 inch by ...
Heavy duty stake pockets, for 1 1/2 inch by 3 inch (true measurement) lumber. You will have to rip down 2x4 material if you want to use with these pockets. The square holes run a true 3/8" and work well with carriage bolts. Word of warning though-- many carriage bolts have the square section of shaft extending just a bit longer than 1/8" so some square shaft will extend through the back of the hole and into the material that the pocket is being bolted to. Which means if you are bolting to a metal frame of a trailer, you'll want to square up the hole in the trailer a bit.Accurately made, though with sharp edges and burrs here and there. Plan to take a wire wheel or some emery cloth to these before you install. There's a taper to them, so you want to make sure you install them right-side up. The pockets have "TOP" stamped into the top, though faintly on some.

WARNING! WILL NOT WORK WITH STANDARD 2X4s
Useless if you need to install 2x4 stakes. The manufacture needs to research standard 2x4 dimensions in the U.S. before selling these in this country. I plan to return these shortly.

A lot of work to trim the stakes, but the results were good
I made stake sides for my Ram flatbed which had three rows of horizontal boards mounted to ten stakes (two side walls and one rear wall), so I had to use my table saw to trim no fewer than sixty notches out of the 2x4" stakes, which was a lot of work. But the end product looks very nice and professional.

Inconsistent!!!!
They're good and heavy, but inconsistent as far as the inside measurements are concerned. If you are planning on installing 2x4's measure it one. The inside demension is up to a 1/8" deference. I'm a fabricator, I should have made them myself.

Promising product
Well made product, heavy duty. My only complaint or suggestion is that the manufacture makes these to fit a 2x4 so trimming is not needed

Nice Product
I built a trailer using this product, it will not take a standard 2x4 you will need to shave about 1/4 of the end off, shape at like a wedge to get it into the stake.
