Syrian Arabic Voices

Perfect for intermediate Levantine Arabic self-study student
I started this book 1 year into my self-study spoken Arabic, and it was perfectly at my level (A2-B1): not too easy but not too hard. This book has 36 segments in which you listen to the audio several times and complete exercises. The audio recordings are by Syrian refuges who fled the war. Learning new vocabulary in context with people speaking naturally gave me this unique feeling of learning Arabic while hearing about every person's experience through the war. I really love this book, and if you're above A2 level in Levantine Arabic I absolutely recommend this book. Now I'm over 2 years into my self-study Arabic and the books published by Lingualism are amazing, and really good for self study.

Great book to learn Syrian Arabic!
Bought this to brush up on my Arabic while laying low during the corona craze (previously I studied Jordanian, but trying to up my knowledge of Syrian Arabic, too). Excellent layout and presentation of the lessons, plus the downloadable PDFs are way uesful.

Much needed book
This is a great resource for learning Syrian dialect and sadly there are few good options out there. Every day language as it's spoken. Easy to follow listening and comprehension exercises (you download accompanying audio). Interesting topics relevant to the Syrian experience covering the conflict and life as a refugee along side day to day conversation. Would highly recommend this to anyone with a good foundation who wants to improve their Arabic.

Love the concept of this book!
If you are not too keen on studying grammar and want to understand and learn the spoken syrian arabic this is the book of your choice! First you can easily download the audio from their website to your smartphone. As you can see in the pictures each chapter consists of 7 steps:1. Listen and try to grasp the main idea- then try to answer the first question "main idea". What I like about the solutions on the end of the chapter is, that they indicate the line of the text where you can find the written answer. So even if you were not able to get the answer from just listening you can look up the line in the text and then listen again and try to hear it this time.2. Listen again and answer the "true or false" questions3. Listen again and answer the multiple choice questions-> that way you have already heard the text 3-4 times already and it gets easier to learn fixed expressions4. Vocabulary- mix and match5. The text with english and arabic side by side. Listen sentence by sentence or stop and repeat after each sentence- or mark unknown words as I did, cover one side of the page etc. You have many options!6. Vocabulary from the text7. Lines for freestyle e.g. write your own story, collect all the verbs, sum up the story, translate to your own language etc.The audio is also really long, e.g. the first text is 4:23 min.For me with an arabic level of approx. A2 it is challenging, but a very pleasant way to learn!Looking forward to the coming chapters :)
