Good for embossing, cutting not so much
Embossing was very easy to learn and results are always consistent . Die cutting I would look for somenthing else. I barely get any clear cuts from the sample cutter, that didn't encourage me to purchase more and keep trying, but since I bought it for embossing I didn't mind much. The object is quite heavier than I expected.

Great die cut and embossing machine.
This is a wonderful machine and my first. I love that it comes with everything you need for embossing AND die cutting. You DON'T need the C plate for cutting wafer thin dies. Is goes through with the crank with little to no force or arm/wrist strength. It's a great size for general care sizes. In the pictures: Thank you was die cut with two sided paper then embossed with powder the yellow background was embossed with the folder that came with the machine. The other image has four die cuts around the elephant. All great but ignore my first embossing with powder technique lol

I should have had one sooner!!
I procrastinated due to the cost; I didn't want to spend the money to emboss or die cut but I'm so glad to have it. I still think that the price point is too high for what it does, and the work involved, but it is what it is. The product is a real boost to the card-making tools. It gives a whole new dimension to it. I have already had people ask how much I would charge to make a card after seeing the most SIMPLE card made using embossing folders and die cuts. Simple is good. I love the embossing....very easy.

Really great portable or everyday use crafting machine
I wanted a really nice portable die cutting and embossing manual machine to bring to crops with my friends. This one hits the mark on all levels. I have a Big Shot, which I really like, but this one is so easy to use once you have the instructions down pat. It comes with a rubber mat to emboss die cuts, such as thinlets, that have embossing in them. It also comes with a A plate which is the base plate and two B plates. One of the B plates is your cut plate where the dies cut into. The only other plates you would want to buy is the magnetic plate made for the Cuttlebug and spare B plates since you will cut into one. Here is the sandwich with the magnetic plate, A plate, magnetic plate, B plate, die cut up with paper on top, B plate. You do not need to buy the C plate since the thickness of the magnetic plate takes the place of the C plate. I watched a lot of videos on YouTube to help me and it did! I highly recommend this machine. It’s a gem and it’s cute too!

So much fun!
I wanted a die cutter, but didn't want the big machine as I am a travel nurse and move around all the time. This works great! When you open the flaps, it suctions onto the surface and is very stable. It feels very sturdy and is compact when folded up. I will have a lot of fun with this. After reading other reviews, I think I will get the magnetic plate to use instead of the C Plate. The dies seem to move around and I have to use a little tape to anchor them while cutting. Not a huge deal, unless I am cutting over a stamp and need precision.

Great fun and easy to learn
Having a lot of fun getting to know the Cuttlebug! All you do is stack the plates and the die (or embossing folder) and your paper in the right order, set it on the tray and wind the handle to put the stack through the machine. It's easy to get started, although it does take a little while to learn about the thicknesses you can put through it. I recommend buying the optional C plate and extra B plates in case you break one while learning--I haven't broken one yet but it's cracked in a few places. They will eventually get too warped and need replacing anyway so it's not wasteful to have them on hand. I'm using it a lot in card making. Really a well designed tool that is a great entry into paper crafting.

It's perfect!
I am in love with this machine. I have never used an embossing machine before, and right of the box it was so simple to use! The instructions are handy to know how to place all of the plates you are using, and to know which mats are for what purpose! The die-cut pieces will leave marks on the clear hard plastic plates when you roll them through the machine. The Cuttlebug is perfect for making cards and uniquely designed paper for crafts. It is perfect for what i need!
