Best modern 1080p gaming monitor on the market
This monitor has several advantages over its competitors that nothing currently available combines into a single package. If you are looking to game at 1080p this is likely as good as it gets. Killer features include:1) Static Contrast - This monitor is VA with fast transitions. The most common panel technologies for gaming monitors are TN and IPS. Both technologies are limited to about 1:1000 standard contrast. This panel is up to 1:3000. There is an Eizo VA gaming monitor that I believe does better at 4.5k, but it is hard to find, more expensive, and has classic VA issues with transitions that this monitor avoids. The reason, in short, why VA is seldom used in gaming is that VA pixels have trouble quickly transitioning between high and low brightness leading to "smearing". This issue is all, but non-existent in this monitor and the similar Samsung cf791.2)144hz and 1ms response times - One of the few VA panels on the market with these specs.3) Color - Quantum dot allows for 125% of the "sRGB" color gamut. Most gaming monitors fall somewhere below 100, many around 90 something. Colors on this monitor are very vivid. The antithesis of the classic "washed out" TN. While this monitor's color accuracy is not likely to equal a quality ips panel, this shouldn't be a concern for consumer usage.4) Freesync - With an AMD gpu, you can say goodbye to screen tearing and stuttering! Range is 70-144, but this monitor supports LFC allowing for an effective range of 1-144.5) Motion blur reduction - This monitor can strobe which significantly reduces blur. An issue with this feature is that the monitor maxes brightness with the strobe turned on (it gets quite bright). With the feature disabled the monitor is flicker-free and thus relatively easy on the eyes. The monitor has an easy to navigate OSD. There is a joystick on the back and 3 buttons on the bottom for presets. The curve is nicer than I expected, it is fairly subtle. Supposedly, the advantage of the curve is that it makes the entire screen more nearly equidistant from your eyes than a flat display would. The included stand feels sturdy and is adjustable. My monitor has minor backlight bleed in the corners which is has yet to be noticeable in practice.Note regarding firmware version - The presence of green or purple trailing has been reported on older revisions of this monitor. Supposedly Samsung updated the firmware on their monitors mid-October to reduce this. I returned the monitor I recieved from Amazon as it was September model (without testing it) and purchased a November from a different retailer. I have yet to notice any trailing on my November monitor (though there are many who never noticed or weren't bothered by trailing in older pre-October models.) Manufacture month can be determined by serial number. Around 5 or so digits from the right there will be a letter or number indicating the month: 8 Aug, 9 Sep, A Oct, B November. Presumably, C would be December though I have yet to see reports of monitors with a C. A possible indicator of the updated monitor is the presence of "Standard Engine" and "Ultimate Engine" freesync settings in the OSD. Older models either call these setting something else or have two simple on and off options rather than the three. I forget which.

Missing parts, Samsung customer service no help, great response from Amazon
UPDATE (Nov 2017): After less than a year, when I turn on the monitor, or when the monitor wakes up from sleep mode, the screen is a mess of vertical lines. After being on for a few minutes and warming up it reverts to a normal display, but for a few minutes, it is completely unusable.Original review:Product came with the wrong power adapter (same as Sean Gart's 2-star review from Nov 28, 2016, and at least two other reviewers here on Amazon), I called Samsung. After nearly five minutes of fighting with their automated system, I finally got to a live person and was given some song and dance about how I would have to pay for a new power supply. Samsung should not be distributing products that are missing parts and then making the customer pay extra. As far as I can tell, the included power supply is a universal power supply (100-240v, 50-60hz) that requires a physical adapter to allow it to be used in any country, since the prong configuration provided will not fit any outlet I can identify (I know it looks kind of like a US 20 amp plug, but the prong size and spacing is wrong for that.). If that is the case, Samsung's response should have been "We'll overnight the adapter to you," not "You'll have to pay for a new power supply."The prong configuration (picture added) does not match any IEC plug. This plug is not useful anywhere in the world without an adapter (do a web search for "IEC power plug" and you will see what I mean), and Samsung did not include an adapter. I checked a large computer superstore (MicroCenter) and Best Buy. Neither of them carry an adapter that would work. This cannot be solved with a "international adapter" kit, because nobody seems to use this plug configuration. This problem is not Amazon's to solve, this problem is with Samsung and their supply chain. That being said, Amazon is doing what they can to resolve the issue (I will update as this progresses), while Samsung is trying to get me to pay more money than I already have for a product that is missing essential parts.UPDATE: I gave Samsung customer service another try. Their CSR was largely unhelpful for about 15 minutes, so I asked to speak with his supervisor. He told me he would need to put me on hold for a minute or two. After I spent about 15 minutes on hold, the call was disconnected. I called back and spoke to another CSR, resolution was still unsatisfactory, I had him cancel the ticket and will resolve this through Amazon.UPDATE: Amazon processed this as a return on the entire monitor, because you cannot get the correct parts from anywhere but Samsung. Amazon should not have had to eat the cost of shipping another monitor two ways, but they did because they care about customer satisfaction. I will continue to do business with Amazon on a regular basis. The display is beautiful, see all the gushing reviews. However, I cannot recommend buying it, as I have no confidence in Samsung's customer service should anything go wrong. This is the last thing I will ever buy from Samsung.

Super Screen to Read and Play!
Lovely product! Even mounts on VESA stand and headphone jack will work great with external speakers too! Loved the pivot function so I can turn the entire screen into portrait mode. Great for reading those long texts! FreeSync looks amazing! Quantum Dot is so vibrant! The stand it ships with is also very nice. Spring loaded so it's very easy to move around. Very happy with this product!

Really awesome! But...
So this monitor is really awesome, really... truly awesome. Except for the corners of the screen being VERY blue shifted, and Samsung really doesn't seem to care, contacted their CS and they just brushed it off so... I guess I gotta live with it.It's not horrid and it's not nearly as pronounced if you put the brightness up, but this monitor is BLINDINGLY bright past 25! At 50 the blue isn't as bad, and 100 the blue is there on white but not really other colours. I really wish Samsung would have ANY customer support, they literally have none... all their CS is handled through Newegg/Amazon exchanges, it's terrible. It's not NEARLY as bad as ASUS' support who outright SCAM YOU, but it's not great.I really wish Samsung would be willing to give me an advanced replacement and exchange the two so I could be sure that the replacement would be good... but Samsung doesn't really have a customer support service what-so-ever. So that's frustrating. I hear most people don't have this issue, if this monitor didn't have this issue it would be perfect, great at gaming, low input lag... Freesync is a dream! But I have the blue shift :(
